lextech430 11-25-2004, 09:14 PM I was flipping through one of the many bias auto mags when I saw an article that caught my attention. I've known for a couple of months that Toyota is coming out with a Diesel version of the Tundra. But, this was the first time I read the specs on the truck, check this-390hp 700ft.lb of torque, spanks the current class leading Chevy/GMC Duramax diesel. Toyota is looking to Aisin to build a stout trans for this truck.
02RSX90camry 11-26-2004, 11:15 AM nice!
i want, lol.
Hatch 11-26-2004, 11:30 AM where did you find this information? what mag?
lextech430 11-27-2004, 06:25 PM I think I read it in Motortrend, other rumors say that the truck's engine might be built by Hino.
kenratboy 11-28-2004, 02:12 AM Oh hell yeah. Imagine how fast that thing will be
Fresco Bob 11-28-2004, 05:16 PM :bukkake: 700ft.lbs :bukkake:
lextech430 11-28-2004, 06:06 PM No word on price yet, I'm guessing 40k-50k??
Wraith 11-28-2004, 06:24 PM I also heard this ... I can wait for this to come out ... I've been wanting a Turbo Diesel soo bad... If they come out I'm buying one... I heard 390hp and 700lbs ft tq...
But I thought it would go under the 400N banner instead of the Tundra...
Either way I hope they also strenghten the frame soo I could install a 5th wheel... then its really bukaki time...
Ukrainian102 11-28-2004, 10:23 PM Damn that is sick.
ekpolk 11-29-2004, 10:12 PM This truck is a threat to the environment. The only thing you need 700 ft-lb to do is pull old growth trees out of the ground whole. Oh wait -- I guess you can use it to make Ford "Powerstroke" diesel guys even more insecure about their inadequate "personal displacement." :naughty: As much respect as I have for Toyota (even following my defection to the Infiniti camp...), what scares me about this possibility is the thought that the geniuses who devised such names as "Camry" and "Prius" (which is only only two letters from "Priapus" ) may come up with something even dorkier and more obvious than "Powerstroke." Something like the "Toyota ThickDick Diesel". . .
TRDcrazy 11-30-2004, 04:26 PM ThickDick Diesel   Awesome! :jerkit:
dna59 11-30-2004, 06:06 PM That's gonna be sick. I love turbo diesel trucks.
lextech430 12-01-2004, 11:42 PM Well I think they're going to keep the guys who designed the Camry and Prius away from this 4OON hell it's being built in San Anto,Tejas. I hope it does'nt have that weird looking design styling like they did to the new Tacoma, it's still cool though. Just imagine Turbo Diesel, lifted on 20" wheels with mud tires. Welcome to the truck game Nissan, thought you were cute with your Titan but Toyota comin' back with a vengance.
lextech430 12-01-2004, 11:48 PM The current frame on the D-cab Tundra is strong, it was designed by Hino. But now Hino is going to play a bigger part in this new Diesel.
700lbs of trq? I want to see some proof. :D
ur_mom 12-09-2004, 02:11 AM the engine is probably taken from the Hino production line..they should also add a dualie..it'll be awesome..a tundra pulling my toyota racecar wit 3t-gt LOL!
Sportivo Concepts 12-09-2004, 02:16 AM I wonder which would win the turbo Desiel or the Tundra Hybrid
es250nut 12-09-2004, 02:24 AM :woot: More Power! :loove:
lextech430 12-09-2004, 10:28 PM Proof? going to have to wait for that.
XRS_JAY 12-31-2004, 11:13 AM Ya I want proof as well at this point a Diesel Tundra is just a rumor, nothing substantuating it. I do believe they will do it but not sure when or power #'s, and apparently there is a 1 ton duelly Tundra in the works.
lextech430 01-01-2005, 05:41 PM The new plant in San Antonio,TX is where the Tundra is going to be built. Toyota wants the upper hand in the truck game, they don't want to be beat again by Nissan.
91MR2quickNA 01-03-2005, 05:15 AM This was posted in the recent issue (Feb 2005) of Truck Trend. Apparently, Nissan is also considering a turbo diesel for the Titan. The specs they wrote were exactly the same for the Tundra Turbo Diesel: 390hp and 700lb-ft.
AvalonMan96 01-03-2005, 05:38 PM Tundra Turbo-Diesel would be sweet! As an owner of a 2002 Tundra, I can tell you the only way to make it better would be to add a TD engine, which would probably provide better mileage than the current iForce gas engine to go along with it's massive power/torque increase over the iForce. Oh, yeah, I can't wait!
Tundra Turbo Diesel, now THAT'S moving you forward!
ricqik 01-05-2005, 07:51 PM Ya wanna feel 700lbtq, put your tundra in 4lo and punch it. That's what 500+hp and 700+lbtq feels like.
lextech430 01-09-2005, 10:43 PM Siiiick.
Toydude 01-09-2005, 10:48 PM SO awesome man. I wonder when they'll be coming out. How can you get a job in the San Antonio Plant :) ? !!!!!! I'm getting annoyed by Nissan. I hope Toyota smokes the, lol.
lextech430 01-09-2005, 10:57 PM Yea Nissan gonna fall flat on their faces, they think they're dominating the truck game, yet the Frontier can't touch the Tacoma even though it has more hp than the Toyota.
maxama10 11-25-2007, 01:48 PM This truck is a threat to the environment. The only thing you need 700 ft-lb to do is pull old growth trees out of the ground whole. Those guys are like the anti-poon. Apparently you don't know any actual uses of a truck.
100$ GUY 11-26-2007, 01:05 PM So, where's the link that started this thread??
tim.powerbook 12-13-2007, 10:22 AM yeah, what happened to this rumor?
