97 T100 2wdxtcab V6 Tune-up

New to this Forum and this is my first question:

I have had this truck since 30K and now it has 142K and I think I should give it a tune-up. The only thing done to the engine is oil changes and filters. The vehicle has been trouble free. But now it is missing and hitting on less than six at low rpm.

When I went to order plugs and wires it says you just need three. So I look under the hood and I can only find three plugs on the driver side and not obvious on the other side. Today I ordered a chilton book. Now I'm no mechanic but I have had a bit of garage experience but I couldn't find the other plugs, I will admit that this was outside and it's -9°f so I wasn't as determined as I might have been.

Also are there any sites that have downloadable (pdf) guides like the factory manuals?

\Thanks all
John

Welcome aboard.I beleive you have the 3400 V-6. the same V-6 that was used on '95-'04 4x4 & Pre-Runner Tacomas, most '96?-'03 4-Runners, and some Tundras. I change oil at a Toyota Dealership and I'm pretty much garanteed to see a vehicle with this motor everyday at work. If you look on your valve covers there sould be three Black pieces with a 10 mm bolt on each side. That is were your Sparkplugs are. There should be a sticker on the front cover of the motor showing which Spark plugs to use
