i have an 88 with the carbed 22R... thats about normal gas mileage. i did a quick google once and it stated 22 highway, 20 city for the 84-88 22R. pretty horrible for a 4 cylinder

i just bought a 2002 with the 2.7 liter. i got about 20 mpg on the way back from deep in PA. that's with fuel injection, too. We were rolling, averaged about 75 or 80 most of the time, and don't forget that's going up and down the hills out there. But still, 20 mpg on the highway sucks. 18 for an older, carburated engine doesn't sound horrible.

anyone know why these trucks get such lousy milage?....maybe they have very low gears?....you'd think a 4 cyl would do alot better

4 cyl getting not so good mileage cause it's pulling a 5k heavy ass all steel truck, lol. BTW, why would you wanna change from carb to f/i? Isn't a carb 22R engine easier to mod and get power out of?
PS: Man those trucks are rare,..I'd buy one in a heartbeat!
