Well I took the car in to Toyota to see what they could tell me. The
diagnostics showed an error code for the rear O2 sensor and the sensor
by the air filter I believe. The mechanic told me neither of these
would be responsible for my problem. He took the car out for a road
test and drove it for at least 20-25 mins and it didn't act up on him
(it never does when you want it to of course!). While he did that he
checked the fuel pressure which was ok. The only thing he thought it
might be was the coil starting to break down, since it was an
intermittent problem. So I guess when that comes in we'll try that out
for a few days and see what happens - he said he'd keep the old one
handy if this doesn't cure it.
