A few suggestions please. After I tow with this truck, I will have problems during restarting. As it has electronic throttle control, the car will either run and the throttle does not respond to foot movement or it will fire and immediately shut down. I get the P1121 code which is "Throttle Position (TP) Sensor Inconsistent With MAF Sensor High Voltage". I suspect that it is the TPS or the entire throttle controller. Does anyone have some diagnostics I can use to test specific components and narrow down the problem? I hate to just change parts needlessly. Could it be a dirty or bad MAF??

This only happens after I tow for ~300 miles and the trailer is ~5000 lbs. so the throttle is run significantly higher when it exhibits te problem.

IT Sounds like the processor learned how to run with a heavy load and when you removed it, the throttle angle didnt match up with the air rate and it got confused and shut down, try this next time, leave it running, unhook the trailer and then drive the truck a couple miles to get it to relearn before you shut it off :naughty:
