I like that new grille. I think the 4Runner is the best midsize truck type SUV on the market.

Looks good  . The Sienna's also getting an update and more features (probably the XLE model).

I hope they give it the 280 hp 4.7L VVT-i V8 from the Tundra so that it can match the power of the '06 Ford Explorer.

They already have the V8 option.

I usually only see those third mirror in Asian market cars. Don't know why they don't have it here. Don't know why they have it in Asia. :)

It's for lazy people (or those with neck problems) to have the blind spot covered by the 3rd mirror. Also, maybe it's for making sure there aren't any motorcycles stopped beside you.

I don't think they add the third mirror for the US market because Americans will freak out why they have a third mirror.

looks like they lowered teh hoodline too. One of the major complains was the hood being too high.

That 3rd mirror, I believe, may be for parking. If you check that Toyota site carefully you will see that the steering wheel on that 4Runner is on the RIGHT side. Therefore that 3rd mirror is on the passenger side of the vehicle. It took me a while to catch on to this until I finally saw one of the photos that showed the steering wheel was on the side opposite that of the mirror. I hope that the North American models don't come with it. I've always found those little convex stick-on mirrors handy for parking and eliminating blind spots.

It's also for blind spot checks

Hey guys, I'm new to this forum. Anyway, I own a 02 4Runner, and have purchased 4runners before so im a 4Runner enthusiast. Now, the 2005 4Runners came with a 245 V6 and 282lbs ft torque. The V8 came with 270hp. WTF happened with the nice lookin 2006 I was waiting to buy? Toyota downgraded the hp. Isn't it supposed to be the newer the car gets, the better? The V6 is now rated at 236hp and the V8 is down to 260. Torque on the engines dropped to. Looks like I'm gonna save my cash and buy an 05 instead. Very disappointed at Toyota indeed.

that change is more than likely due to the fact that cars are now being tested under different/stricter guidelines. many of the cars have been MARKED as reduced horsepower, but the engine is still giving out the same. So it wont feel different, its just the marketing is different.

Like nodrogkam said, there has been a change in the way HP is now measured. I was speaking with my salesman yesterday and he pointed that out to me. The engine is the same.

We just had our first 06 4Runner (I work at toyota escondido, in new car sales) And it's nice!!! It's got those headlights (in the picture) it also has chrome door handles, and LED tail lights, small things, but it makes a big difference! I think it looks much more refined...

That interior is nice. The headlights are nice too. I see no hood scoop either, eh? That did piss me off since the previous model had one but it wasn't a functional hood scoop. WTF?

P.S. AvalonMan, I'm lovin' your sig!!! ToyotaNation!!!! WOOO-HOOO!!!

did it occur to you that only the Sport Edition gots the hoodscoop? Thats a limited....the leather seats and fake dark wood accents give it away. But now the SE will really stand out by not only the hs, but with charcole headlights, tubesteps and smoked grill....yay.

i was at a toyota dealership this weekend looking and test drove an 06 4runner sr5 v6. Hoodscoops are only available in V8's. Weird thing is, they have projector headlights but their is not an option for HID xenon's which dissappointed me. At least not at the dealership I was at, Im not exactly sure. Other than that, it is a very nice SUV. That blind spot mirror that you guys are talking about is not available if youre looking for a 3rd row. Also if you want a moonroof, you have to sacrifice a 3rd row. Me personally I would like that 3rd row, just in case I take a road trip Ill have room for all my family.

i have to say the 3rd row in our highlander has come in handy more than once since we got it. Does the 4 runner fold flat or is it on the sides? I dont know if it would be that good for anyone to get the 4 runner with 3rd row if it doesnt fold flat into the floor.

they left out the hid's in the runner because they want to differentiate from the more expensive gx470. just like the camry/solara has projectors but only the es350 gets hid's. as for the hoodscoop, all sport edition comes with h/s, its not exclusive to the v8.
