Will FJ Cruiser replace Rav4?

all this hype about the FJ Cruiser has me thinking....if the FJ is going to be a small SUV, then what will happen to the Rav4. Obviously it wouldn't make sense to have them compete, would it? My girlfriend is part inheriting-part buying her aunt's 01 or 02 rav and i was thinking if we get to the point where we're in the market for a used small SUV say 6 yrs from now, will we have to buy a slightly older rav? Also, it's important to note she doesn't like the styling on the new FJ, 05 Mustang, DC 300/Charger/Magnum, xA & xB, and pretty much anything that looks like the cars look nowadays. (she does like the Tacoma, however, which is good news for me)

No, its built on the 4Runner chassis and is much larger than the RAV4.
There is an '06 RAV4 scheduled to be released, so I dont see it going away any time soon. The new RAVs are supposedly available with a V6 too!

The new RAV's are very cool.

No way will they replace the FJ though.

Different market segment. Rav4 is more of a "cute" AWD vehicle where the FJ is designed for the hard core offroad segment. It offers all of the hardest core offroad gear in a no-nonsence package (no carpet). It offers locking diffs, huge ground clearance, the works!

Think of it as a beefed-up Toyota Extera.

The Rav-4 was made for someone who needs a small car to drive when it snows, not a serious off-road vehicle. Have you ever looked at the tiny half-shafts on a Rav-4? Definitely made for the highway!
