Ruffrydasean 08-29-2005, 12:07 AM I Like it better than the old one
Aussie Toyota 08-29-2005, 02:50 AM looks good
lexusis350 08-29-2005, 11:19 AM Looks good, it probably is only a 5-seater. The front is more aggresive and resembles the Highlander. I think this could have an optional V6.
CorollaDX-R 08-29-2005, 02:23 PM wow loooks good... i like it....
lucanhookup 08-29-2005, 02:35 PM it would be so cool if it had a v6:thumbup:
Looks good... now if only it could make it to production looking like that that...

Aussie Toyota 08-29-2005, 09:19 PM looks heaps better in darker colours
WOW! That is a really nifty looking interior! Makes me almost want to buy that almost truck!
84Cressida 08-29-2005, 11:48 PM The Rav4 has always been a good SUV, but this one just smoke the competition. The Mercury Mariner is going down.
cam2Xrunner 08-30-2005, 12:42 AM it would be so cool if it had a v6:thumbup:
It is going to have a V6 option
chindo 08-30-2005, 03:49 AM Looks very nice...especially like the interior
Razo-E 08-30-2005, 06:11 AM not bad, but i hate that Pontiac Vibe C-pillar, makes the car look chunky..
otherwise, damn nice.:)
AvalonMan96 08-30-2005, 02:25 PM Sweet!
rav4enous 08-31-2005, 10:12 AM anyone notice there seem to be long & short versions of the new rav4? check out the rear 3/4 window....appears larger on the most recent (silver/gray)photo and shorter on the original (black) photo that was released.
whositwhatnow 09-03-2005, 08:53 AM Re these being made in the US?
Jaggrey 09-03-2005, 10:25 PM This isn't gonna have a V6 option... is it?
I wonder what the gas mileage is on this new one.
TRDcrazy 09-04-2005, 12:19 PM itll prolly have the avalon engine and if u look at the mpg for the avalon engine you dont have to compromise a lot. compared to the current Rav4 you get a huge increase in power and only a minor loss in mpg.
Jaggrey 09-04-2005, 07:50 PM if they put the 3.5 into the RAV4 while maintaining the fuel economy I'd be all over that. It'd make my decision between it and the V6 Camry that much harder. I've always been a sedan man but the space gained would be a plus.
karrock 09-12-2005, 07:55 PM V6 -- YES!

Jaggrey 09-12-2005, 08:58 PM Geez it grew alot... only 3 inches shy in length of the current Highlander.
drunken_panda 09-12-2005, 10:08 PM how is it that the V6 is 2000lbs heavier than the 4cly. Maybe the V6 comes on an extended wheel base with 3rd row of seats.
Jaggrey 09-12-2005, 10:49 PM how is it that the V6 is 2000lbs heavier than the 4cly. Maybe the V6 comes on an extended wheel base with 3rd row of seats.that's not the weight... it's the towing capacity.
HoboJoe 09-18-2005, 07:38 AM Toyota's doing it! They're putting horsepower in those great cars! The Big 3 are toast.:gfy:
lexusis350 10-22-2005, 05:41 PM http://www.toyota.com/images/vehicles/future/rav4/index.jpg
Looks sportier.
lexusis350 10-30-2005, 11:27 AM http://motortrend.com/autoshows/coverage/112_05tokyo_toyota_rav402_z.jpg
Awesome color and nice wheels. Are those signal lights on the mirrors? It the Rav4 will have them in Japan, why won't Lexus?
Tideland Prius 10-30-2005, 12:23 PM There's a lotta things those Japanese are keeping to themselves hehehehe. They have integrated signals in their mirrors but it's a $300+ option. I just wish for side fender indicators.
briangk_77 10-30-2005, 07:08 PM Looks very similar to the Matrix to me, with shades of Subaru on the front.
All together, nice looking small SUV.
dna59 10-31-2005, 07:18 AM Looks much better than the current one to me. The onyl way I like to see the current one is w/ the bodykit. So it's still gonna be named RAV4 even though it's gonna have a V6 option?
Tideland Prius 10-31-2005, 01:44 PM Yes! The 4 isn't for 4 cylinder. RAV4 stands for Recreational Active Vehicle with 4WD.
dna59 10-31-2005, 06:27 PM Thanks for clearing that up. I guess I was misinformed.
lexusis350 11-05-2005, 10:42 AM Width - 71.5 in
Height – 66.3 in
Length – 181.1 in.
lexusis350 11-05-2005, 10:50 AM 20 city/28 highway for 4x2 V6
20 city/27 highway for 4x4 V6 (not much of a difference)
24 city/29 highway on 4x2 I4
23 city/27 highway on 4x4 I4
The V6 looks to be almost as efficient as the I4.
TRDSienna 11-05-2005, 03:57 PM V6 with 5 speed, beautiful combination
84Cressida 11-05-2005, 05:12 PM This thing is going to be a hit.
Jaggrey 11-05-2005, 05:39 PM I saw it today at the auto show. Looks pretty good actually. They had it in silver, just like the pic on toyota.com. It was on the turnstile and they only had one, so I couldn't get a peek at the interior.
lexusis350 11-05-2005, 06:15 PM The Rav4 is very nice and will be well equipped. It has is Toyota's entry model and it is already getting major upgrades over other Toyota models and Lexus models. These changes would mean other Toyotas and Lexus' will follow with further upgrades. The Rav4 is to get LED tail lamps, Electronic Power Steering system , powerful 3.5L 269hp V6, Hill-start Assist Control, Downhill Assist Control, Optitron gauges, water-repellant foldable deck board, AM/FM CD with six speakers with a mini-plug jack and MP3/WMA playback capability, remote keyless entry, ten front and rear bottle/cup holders, power windows and door locks, larger foldable power mirrors, privacy glass, three 12-volt auxiliary power outlets, and a tilt and telescopic steering wheel, lever-operated brake deceleration cruise control, MP3/WMA playback capability, mini aux jack.

OMG sick!!!!!!! Nice wheels, nice body kit, nice headlights (like those from a BMW 745 = upscale). Oh and nice V6 engine. Should they not use a 6speed auto like on Avalon?
Only two flaws: Hood scoop and 4mpg difference in City btwn I4(24mpg) and V6(20mpg), any MPG on an SUV type boxy vehicle is a bonus.
Avalonman 11-06-2005, 07:47 AM http://www.autospies.com/images/uploads/large/0284.jpghttp://www.autospies.com/images/uploads/large/0285.jpg I guess that the sport has optional side mirror signals
Jaggrey 11-06-2005, 11:04 AM Man I wish that was at my auto show!
Tideland Prius 11-06-2005, 02:18 PM  I like. I agree on the hood scoop. It seems like they wanted one but not really. It's tiny and we know it's non-functional. Those tyres have a pretty aggressive tread pattern.
HoboJoe 11-07-2005, 01:05 AM ^Ah, cut a hole in the scoop opening and route some wide, thin tubing to the air box. Tah-dah, functional scoop.:D
lexusis350 11-09-2005, 04:33 PM European RAV4 has:
- engine start/stop button
- GPS navigation
- Bluetooth integration on the steering wheel
(not available in US)
I think they should, it would make it more competitive to even the BMW X3 or Acura RDX.
People would love these options in the United States.

WHAT!!! NO bluetooth for the Rav4 in the US Model either! Okay I was annoyed that there is no option for GPS navigation but I could get an aftermarket one, but now no option for the Bluetooth! I was really on planning on making the next Rav4 my dream car, with leather seats, sunroof, V6 etc.., but now i'm not so sure.
lexusis350 11-09-2005, 10:03 PM They should add these features after honda redesigns the CR-V so they won't get copied. The Sienna got copied by Odyssey (run-flats, 8-seating (also copied from GM), 360watt sound system (not surround sound).
The Rav4 should get
- engine start/stop button
- GPS navigation
- Bluetooth integration on the steering wheel
(not available in US)
After the CR-V is here.
TRDSienna 11-10-2005, 04:26 PM That red one was from SEMA?
Avalonman 11-10-2005, 08:29 PM ^Yep.
_VVTi_ 11-17-2005, 02:52 PM too bad only the Limited trim have fog lights, i think it'll look imcomplete without the fog lights
ECHOKnight2000 11-17-2005, 09:19 PM I'm partial to the new design, I think it looks handsome, but it has some Highlander resemblence to the front, which in my opinion is not good cause why would you incorporate a new generation car design with a design of a current model that is going to soon be redesign? Maybe if I see it in person I might warm more up to it, don't get me wrong it looks good. Maybe that was there intention as the next gen Highlander will look different. I assume the new RAV4 is taking the place of the Highlander and the Highlander is moving up market. I wonder if that's why Toyota is not offering bluetooth and GPS, saving for the Highlander? I'm sure there are other reasons, market and competition. But as someone mentioned they would be more competitative with those features, but at the same time they don't want to cancel or overlap too much on their product offerings as far as horsepower/price/features value, eg. RAV4 and Highlander. I'm probably not makinng sense. Maybe as the market changes and when the new CR-V comes out they might add those options on the new RAV4.;)
nmehes 11-21-2005, 03:21 PM V6 with 5 speed, beautiful combination
Sorry, no 5 speed for you my friend. At least not in Canada.
