Looks good, it probably is only a 5-seater. The front is more aggresive and resembles the Highlander. I think this could have an optional V6.

The Rav4 has always been a good SUV, but this one just smoke the competition. The Mercury Mariner is going down.

anyone notice there seem to be long & short versions of the new rav4? check out the rear 3/4 window....appears larger on the most recent (silver/gray)photo and shorter on the original (black) photo that was released.

itll prolly have the avalon engine and if u look at the mpg for the avalon engine you dont have to compromise a lot. compared to the current Rav4 you get a huge increase in power and only a minor loss in mpg.

if they put the 3.5 into the RAV4 while maintaining the fuel economy I'd be all over that. It'd make my decision between it and the V6 Camry that much harder. I've always been a sedan man but the space gained would be a plus.

Awesome color and nice wheels. Are those signal lights on the mirrors? It the Rav4 will have them in Japan, why won't Lexus?

There's a lotta things those Japanese are keeping to themselves hehehehe. They have integrated signals in their mirrors but it's a $300+ option. I just wish for side fender indicators.

Looks very similar to the Matrix to me, with shades of Subaru on the front.

Yes! The 4 isn't for 4 cylinder. RAV4 stands for Recreational Active Vehicle with 4WD.

This thing is going to be a hit.

I saw it today at the auto show. Looks pretty good actually. They had it in silver, just like the pic on toyota.com. It was on the turnstile and they only had one, so I couldn't get a peek at the interior.

The Rav4 is very nice and will be well equipped. It has is Toyota's entry model and it is already getting major upgrades over other Toyota models and Lexus models. These changes would mean other Toyotas and Lexus' will follow with further upgrades. The Rav4 is to get LED tail lamps, Electronic Power Steering system , powerful 3.5L 269hp V6, Hill-start Assist Control, Downhill Assist Control, Optitron gauges, water-repellant foldable deck board, AM/FM CD with six speakers with a mini-plug jack and MP3/WMA playback capability, remote keyless entry, ten front and rear bottle/cup holders, power windows and door locks, larger foldable power mirrors, privacy glass, three 12-volt auxiliary power outlets, and a tilt and telescopic steering wheel, lever-operated brake deceleration cruise control, MP3/WMA playback capability, mini aux jack.

OMG sick!!!!!!! Nice wheels, nice body kit, nice headlights (like those from a BMW 745 = upscale). Oh and nice V6 engine. Should they not use a 6speed auto like on Avalon?

Only two flaws: Hood scoop and 4mpg difference in City btwn I4(24mpg) and V6(20mpg), any MPG on an SUV type boxy vehicle is a bonus.

:thumbsup: I like. I agree on the hood scoop. It seems like they wanted one but not really. It's tiny and we know it's non-functional. Those tyres have a pretty aggressive tread pattern.

^Ah, cut a hole in the scoop opening and route some wide, thin tubing to the air box. Tah-dah, functional scoop.:D

WHAT!!! NO bluetooth for the Rav4 in the US Model either! Okay I was annoyed that there is no option for GPS navigation but I could get an aftermarket one, but now no option for the Bluetooth! I was really on planning on making the next Rav4 my dream car, with leather seats, sunroof, V6 etc.., but now i'm not so sure.

They should add these features after honda redesigns the CR-V so they won't get copied. The Sienna got copied by Odyssey (run-flats, 8-seating (also copied from GM), 360watt sound system (not surround sound).

I'm partial to the new design, I think it looks handsome, but it has some Highlander resemblence to the front, which in my opinion is not good cause why would you incorporate a new generation car design with a design of a current model that is going to soon be redesign? Maybe if I see it in person I might warm more up to it, don't get me wrong it looks good. Maybe that was there intention as the next gen Highlander will look different. I assume the new RAV4 is taking the place of the Highlander and the Highlander is moving up market. I wonder if that's why Toyota is not offering bluetooth and GPS, saving for the Highlander? I'm sure there are other reasons, market and competition. But as someone mentioned they would be more competitative with those features, but at the same time they don't want to cancel or overlap too much on their product offerings as far as horsepower/price/features value, eg. RAV4 and Highlander. I'm probably not makinng sense. Maybe as the market changes and when the new CR-V comes out they might add those options on the new RAV4.;)
