It really bothers me when people on forums say that you shouldnt buy Japanese products because all Japanese companies want to do is take business away from American companies and put Americans out of work.
This goes to show that Japanese companies DO care about the American economy. Japan's economy isnt in the best shape right now, yet these companies still find room to donate money to us.
Its pretty sad when Toyota, Nissan, Panasonic and Mitsu Heavy Industries all make MUCH less money per year than GM, yet they all gave over TWICE as much as GM did.
Not bashing GM, but it goes to show you that these foreign companies care as much (if not more) than GM does.

Toyota will also match all employee donations.

Cap'nGM may sell more vehicles than Toyota, but what matters is profit, and GM doesn't make a dime off those cars. Toyota has way more money than the Big 3, and the remaining Big 2 from Japan. Pretty cool huh?

It's interesting that cooperates in a small country that have more natural disasters than us (let alone hitting by earthquakes) donate more money to helps us than the largest automobile manufacturer in the world like GM. Has GM ever donated anything to help them when 10 typhoons (hurricanes) hit Japan last year alone? I don't think so. :thumbdown

Just out of curiosity, did Toyota or any other Japanese companies donate anything to the 9/11 terrorist attacks on NYC?

Good to know. Next time someone in a forum says you shouldnt buy Toyota and brings up the fact that GM donated vehicles for 9/11 and says "what did Toyota do???" I will let them have it! :naughty:

and I encourage everyone to support the charity of his choice. I support mine.
But why is Toyota so generous to the red cross?. After what I read from here, about 20% of the donations arrive to actually help victims. http://www.prisonplanet.com/articles/september2005/010905redcross.htm

About those disasters in Japan.
Japan has a working social system and is prepared for such disasters, so the damage is at a minimum when such does strike.
That's why donations from big coorporations aren't really needed.
