Aftermarket headunit? Then you need the wiring harness to mate the unit's harness to the Toyota harness. Go to an audio installer to get them. They're usually made by a company called Metra and cost around $10 or so. Buy some butt connectors and a crimping tool, and make sure the negative batt cable is disconnected before you start the install. That should be it.

you need to tap that wire into something that provides 12V when you turn on your parking lights. Sorry, I don't know what colour wire would accomplish this. Maybe one of the other guys can tell ya.

i believe the orange wire is for the dimmer, which there was none for my head unit. i didn't connect it to anything at all. my display works fine.

maybe your HU has a dimmer wire and you need to connect the orange wire to?

I had the same problem installing my HU. I tapped into every wire using a harness and still had the orange "illumination" one left over. My display wasn't lighting up at night either. I ended up splicing it into some wire. If you're handy with a multimeteer or reading wire diagrams you should be able to figure it out. Otherwise, somebody here is gonna have to help you out. Come on guys, which colour wire gives you a signal when the parking lights are on? according to the colour chart it should be green :-?
