rear speakers needed?

Hey. just bought a new deck, it's a Kenwood eXcelon KDC-859. Soon i'll be picking up the Infinity 505cs 5 1/4 compnent speakers for my front, and some 6x9's for the rear speakers(dont know what kind).
I was told that if i planned on putting a sub in (which i do, in the new year probably.) that i shouldnt put in rear speakers because the air pressure will make the spkrs sound like crap. I plan on putting in 2 10" subs or 1 12".
Is this true? i couldnt picture it sounding that great without any rear speakers, but i wouldnt know. This is my first car audio setup and i dont wanna fvck it up.

it won't cause any problems, in my opinion. rear speakers are for "fill"... giving you some rear sound without overpowering the front speakers. without them you may feel like all the sound is in front of you instead of "around" you.

Speakers placed in the rear deck sharing the trunk with subs does F-ck with the sound quality. Think about it the spressure from the sub alone is enough to move the deck speakers, And it would be almost impossible for the speaker to hit a bass note the same time the pressure from the sub does right? would that be called out of phase?

A simple fix is to make fiberglass baffles to seperate the air from the back of the 6x9's and subs.

I suggest anyone who has never worked with glass to do this as there first project to learn how glass molds, dries and works overall.

And foam baffles suck.

I think i will go ahead and buy some rear 6x9's. Then i will work on making some fibreglass baffles.
I have never worked with fibreglass, but a friend of mine has and i'm sure he would help me out.
I want a thumping system, but my first prority is sound quality and i cant imagine having a full sounding system without rear speakers. Any reccomendations on good 6x9's?

i have 2 12's... and rear 3-way 6x9's, and i love the sound.

i like how i have it set up tho...
i have the separate EQ which lets me adjust the sub volume... so on the reciever, i turn the treble all the way up and the bass all the way down, that way i dont have bass on the interior speakers (well, not much)... and all the bass is coming from the subs.

even if the sub cancels out some sound from the bass of the rear speakers, you still get most or full potential of the mid-high range frequences, treble.
