3.3 L V6 with new SAE ratings has 223 hp
This is more than the Highlander. This may help justify Lexus' premuim over Toyota. Before without SAE, both were rated at 230hp.

Any news if the 3.5 L engine will be in the RX in the future. The Highlander will get a redesign for 2007/8.

I like the RX330, as it's a beautiful luxury crossover. One of my favorite Lexuses.

Agree. It's a beautifully put together vehicle. It's probably the only SUV I'll ever buy. Ever. :D

Hmm, what's the new Highlander's 3MZ-FE rating? 210?

Edit: My bad, I read the other thread. It's 215hp.

It may be a beautifully put together vehicle, but it is certainly the ugliest vehicle Toyota makes, IMHO.

Give me the Highlander instead.

I like the RX. Nice looking car, if I were in the market for a Luxery mid-size it would probably be between this and the SRX. And the RX is 1000X better looking than the egg on wheels called the FX. I still can't understand why people like that.

I sat in the FX at the autoshow. It's not as big inside as it seems. In fact, I found the rear compartment to be a tad on the cramped side. Also the right shoulder check is a must as it has a HUGE blind spot thanks to the big C-pillar and small rear quarter window.

I don't see any difference from the 2003 to the 2006 models.

I've touched on this several times: it's the knock sensor. When you use regular fuel in Toyota's high compression engines, the knock sensor retards the timing to prevent detonation. This is why the Toyota 1MZ/3MZ are rated lower than their Lexus counterparts. Toyota tested the Lexus engines with premium fuel.

The ES330 is rated at 218hp/236lb-ft, while the 3MZ equipped Camry SE V6 is rated at 210/220, and the 1MZ equipped Camrys are 190/197lb-ft.

Use PREMIUM fuel to get more power out of a high compression engine equipped with a knock sensor. It's like using 87 octane in a turbocharged engine ... :nutkick:

(The 1MZ/3MZ both near the 11:1 compression ratio at 10.5:1 and 10.8:1, respectively)

IMO, one of the best looking vehicles toyota has ever rolled out. Beautiful, just needs the GS430's v8.:naughty:
edit: Oh, and the 330 needs the rx400h's tail lights with the LED's.

I forgot to add that although I think the RX is ugly, it still looks better than the Acura MDX.

The MDX is styled after a Rhino if you wanted to know. It also stands for Multi-Dimensional crossover.

The RX is not ugly...
I wonder if Lexus will give it the 3.5 L engine before its redesign in 2008.
