<div>Hi, I'm changing the timing belt on a 2000 Camry, and I wanted to make sure I didn't need anything extra, and the parts are okay. I called the Toyota dealership and got quotes on the water pump and timing belt, which were $124 and $49. However, I go on rockauto and see prices for the pump range from $30-$50, and the belt from $15-$35. Are any of the brands on rockauto reccomended? Also, do I need to buy the tensioner and pulleys as well? Any parts I'm missing will be helpful. Also, I have a 300ftlb impact gun to remove the crank pulley. Is that strong enough?</div>

Are there shops there that will do the necessary replacements/adjustments to make your car legal? Is it super expensive and not worth the money at all? Do some shops just take bribes to pass you?</div>

Does this behavior make any sense to anybody? Beyond just keep monitoring it, I am not sure how to interpret this event.<br />

<div>I'm hoping someone can provide some guidance on the problem I've been having...<br />
 <br />
So recently I received the CEL code, P1780 which revolves around the nuetral safety switch. The same problem with all the other camrys in the other posts which had the reverse light showing although you were in drive. The back up light on the dash was also on. After checking in the trunk, I noticed where the wires had been pinched and cut by the trunk arm on the driver side trunk. I extended the wires, erased the code and it did not come back on for another 2 weeks. Here's where the big problem occured :headbang:...All of a sudden after driving around two weeks later and parking the car for an hour, when i got back in to start the car none of my light on my dash are working any longer. The RPM, Speedometer, mileage indicator, and everything else on the dash is no longer working/lit up. When I put the car in drive, it will never get out of first gear and basically just revs up. I have not yet changed the Neutral Safety Switch itself on the transmission as of yet since that is the next possibility. I highly doubt its the ECM but I'm not sure at this point as I've never seen anything like this. In reading through all of the other posts, could this be one of the two reasons? The actual Neutral Safety Switch senson or ECM? When running my code reader again I received the message...&quot;Manufacturer: Transmission...P1780&quot;<br />
 <br />
I'm hoping at this point its the switch and only the switch as the neutal safety cable itself seem to be fine. I'll re-check again just to be sure.<br />
 <br />
Thoughts anyone?</div>

Do me a favor if I ask a question that has been asked before. Either help or just don't chime in at all. &quot;Do a search&quot; is not helping. When you search out some questions it can take a while sifting through all that crap. Give some of us a break. Asking people top speed of their car and payments per month is annoying to, but I give them a brake. Leaving now so won't be able to defend myself for a few hours. Flame on!</div>
