I just installed the Toyota XM radio kit. Wasn't as bad as I thought it would be--it took about 2 hours, tho I didn't follow the instructions to the T. Thanks to those on this forum for the guidelines on doing this. Very helpful. Everything works, but the reception isn't that great--I lose the signal quite a bit. I think I need to upgrade the antenna as has been suggested. Next weekend.

Is anyone else as irritated as I am with the outgassing from the plastics in the Highlander fouling up the windows with an oily film? Every new car outgasses and for the first year or two the oily films can be a problem, but having to clean my front windshield about twice a week is driving me nuts! Even using my nuclear option of a vinegar/water solution removes the film with lots of elbow grease, but dang it if it doesn't come right back. :headbang: Anyone else having this issue?

Hi all. I searched the other threads and haven't come across any that address this specific modification.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to convert the headlight system on my base HL from manual to automatic?

I am assuming all the wiring, fuses, and relays are already in place and all I would need to add are the light sensor and the new light control stick. Can anyone confirm this is all that would be necessary? By the way, where is the light sensor on the HL (is it on the front of the dash near the windshield)?

I am also assuming that would enable DRL functionality on my HL as well.

I was just notified by my dealer that Toyota is offering 3.9% financing on all Highlanders (2010 included) beginning Wednesday, November 18th. I dont know if this is specific to my locale (I'm in Denver).

Unfortunately, there is no customer cash associated with the new incentives.

And as a sidenote - you can always get 3.9% financing through Pentagon Federal Credit Union (Penfed). It's easy to join and the 3.9% rate is good up to 60 months.

Wondering whether anyone has removed the dash as a DIY item? I may need to go squeak hunting again.

Is there anyway to turn off the beep that goes on for 10 seconds each time you open the rear hatch?

You come to a stop, throw it into Park, turn off the car, hop out open the hatch and beeeeeeep....................

Maybe if I manually unlock all the doors before getting out? But that seems like it could be avoided - the car is shut off and in park after all.

Hi: I bought an 09 Base model last month. Supposedly it should have a TPMS. But I cannot seem to find any evidence of it!

1) According to the manual, there should be a TPMS Reset Switch (button) on the lower part of the dashboard. But I cannot seem to find it. Have they hidden it that well? I was down on my knees with a flashlight and the only switch I could find below the steering wheel was a traction on/off switch.

2) Should the TPMS indicator light (horseshoe shape) come on momentarily during status check when you first turn the ignition key on? Mine doesn't.

3) Suppose recomm. tire pressure is 32 psi. At what pressure reduction will the TPMS alert me (for example, once pressure gets down to 25 psi.)?

I'm probably just overlooking something.

I know this is a contradiction of terms, but anyone find the new 86271-GEN05-09 86271-53024 Nav update CD on the cheap yet? List seems to be $199, and the cheapest I could find was $159. Still high by the aftermarket standards.

Were the updates worth it?

I have 2008 Ltd with Nav. Lately I started having a strange problem with my Navigation.
When I set a route, Nav will announce the turns etc and if the radio is on, it will mute all speakers (or reduce the volume) and it will make its announcement. Now when it makes its announcement it only does that on one speaker, music blaring on others and it becomes hard to hear.

Any ideas what this could be? Anybody had a similar problem?

I realize this is mostly an annoyance, but it bugs me... I took the DVD out and but it back, thinking it might reboot the Nav system, did not make any difference

Saw a few on Taco and quite like them...
Did a search and was not able to find a skid plate for this vehical.
Not that I will take my HL to off road... just for looks.
Anyone out there thinking about the same thing?

I purchased an 09 highlander sport back in August and have been on the market for a remote starter. This can either be aftermarket or the OEM VIP starter, i dont really care either way.

What I do want is a quality system that can be installed easily into my highlander.

Which starter would you recommend?

Where can I get this from?

Could I install it or should somebody else?

Does anyone know if there exists any software for iphone which would allow me to play music remotely through the bluetooth function on the 2008 Highlander Limited without connecting the aux cable? It works wirelessly with the phone only, but will not play music wirelessly. Thoughts? Thx.
