Hey everyone:D

Long time toyota tinkerer here, I mostly deal with mr2s but recently brought an ES300. It was cheap because it has a few issues non of which is a biggy except for one. The Tranny.

The issue is that it has no reverse at all and the car has no neutral and will start when it is in "neutral" but then actually drives forward as if it's in drive which is pretty dangerous as it starts then takes off. Also in reverse nothing happens the car won't move and has a 2000rpm rev limit like it's all loaded up maybe it's a rev limit intended for neutral??? The previous owner did an engine swap and his wiring skills look less than steller. I'm wondering if something is out of whack making this happen

Was also wondering if the sensor thing on the gear cable selector on the gearbox that tells it what gear it is in can be adjusted or just messed up to no end. It is really weird driving around in neutral although I am enjoying having a non-sports (read well equipped nice riding:lol:) car with a bit of go so would like to fix it and have it for a while before selling it on. Also as a side note if I can't fix it this engine is going in an MR2 conversion for a bit of fun but I would rather not since this car is damn nice (perfect body and interior) for a $600 car.

What would the quality of the car be like of a low end Lexus to a higher end Toyota Corolla?

Hello everyone,

I have recently acquired a 04 Lexus RX 330 with 31K on it and all the goodies possible for it. Right now do to me still being a student and the crazy insurance premium that I would have me and my dad decided to share it for the time and put it under his name.

Anyway, the issue is when the car is in motion and occasionally from a dead stop you can hammer the gas pedal, and go at it aggressively then a normal acceleration and the damn this wont move.:ugh3: The first time I noticed it was I was getting on I-83 and i could merge into this one spot if i got up to speed quickly. So I pushed the pedal all the way down.......and the SUV just was like im going to take my time on this. Was very dangerous!

The time my father noticed it, he was at a dead stop at a stop sign. He saw a gap on the road he was going to turn onto and once again he pressed the accelerator about 3/4 the way down and the SUV again decided to takes its time moving. Once again very dangerous!

I will admit, I have gotten used to this issue and found ways to drive the RX to compensate for this problem... However my dad is not so lucky with this. He went from my 96 V6 Camry which is cable throttle to his 05 4Runner which is throttle by wire, and expected to have no problems since you can barely tell the difference in response between the 4runner and the Camry.

We have talked to some shops to get their thoughts and they said three is something wrong, but that they do not know what it could be. Also there is no Engine Check Light at all except on start up the car and normal diagnostics check. I'm about to take it to a dealer to get them to check it, was hoping to get some ideas here first. My thoughts are there is some issue with the transmission controller, Traction Control, throttle body and wire harnesses, or the AWD Controller.

Thanks

Yo' whats up everybody,Im new to the forum. I've always loved Lexus but could never afford one so two years ago I bought a 93' Acura Legend. I hate that car now, I was in love with it too but I didn't do no research on them b4 I purchased it. There's always a problem after problem with those cars. Don't get me wrong their fast, beautiful cars; but the stealership is killing my pockets for the parts I need. On top of that everyone knows Legends have engine problems especially with the head gaskets. I know alot of Lexus owners who say that they have no issues or problems but their knowledge of car issues isn't that good so I'm looking to trade in my Legend for a '00 - '02 GS 400. Can anyone out there school me on what to look out for in my purchasing a GS400?:D

BTW - if u look at my pic in my photos I also want to know if those rims I have on my Legend will fit the GS4 with no problem?
