What Splashguards/ Mudguards are you using? I don't see any OEM ones for my 2000 ECHO Coupe, and have had issues with aftermarket ones for other vehiches in the past. Thanks.

I had accidently pressed the Audio Control button too many times in my 2004 Echo with MP3 player ( Audio part no. 08600-00991) and now I have the full radio/MP3 player screen permanently displayed and I could not get the clock display back on even after I tried the method stated in the manual many times!

Please help as this is my brother's car and he will kill me when he finds out.

Purchased 4/07 at 76,000 miles, now 113,000. No records from previous owner. 1) How can I check the transmission oil? 2) How do I know when it needs changing? 3) Does this require a mechanic garage or can it be done at an oil change shop? 4) How often replace transmission oil on my manual transmission. Cannot find a dipstick or easy way to check level or color. Any advice would be appreciated.

Just came from the Shell station and it took almost 5 minutes to fill. The nozzle kept shutting off. I even switched to a different nozzle and same thing.

Got the car rustproofed at Canadian Tire yesterday. I wonder if there is a connection.

Just mounted my Snow tires today, so I figured a quick review was in order. The tires are Firestone Winterforce M/S with studs, I got them in 185/65 R15 on my stock rims and yes 65's do clear just fine. Before I continue some pictures :thumbsup:

So on to the Review...

Things I Liked

• They look good :cool:
• I could mount a meater (is that a word) tire on my stock wheels
• They are one of the few studable tires left on the market
• Priced fairly at about $75 a tire
• The tread looks almost like a truck tire which inspires confidence if nothing else
• Ride quality is quite smooth even compaired to my summer tires
• Great handling on dry pavement (better than most snow tires)
• Handled on par with most all seasons in the rain (It rained while I was writing this so I ran out and played with them)
• Did I mention the look good...

Things I did not like

• Holy S*** they are loud, Between the poping sound of the studs and the singing of the deep tread they almost drove me mad just going down the street to get gas.
• They were so loud that several people stoped what they were doing to look up as I drove past.
• They are very heavy, almost twice the weight of my 17 inch summer tires.
• The make even more noise turning :headbang:

All in all other than the noise issues which I expected for the most part the only real surprise was the weight, however I did not notice any differance in acceleration.

Hopefully It starts snowing soon here so I can Update this with a review of how well they perform in the snow/ice.

My husband replaced my daughters water pump in 2002 Echo. Now the car won't shift from park. Also no turn signal, no hazard lights, no radio, no heater or AC fan. Is there a reset switch or something? Any help is greatly appreciated. Also it starts and runs fine.

I just bought a toyota echo, 250 000km. It is a 2001, i paid it 1200$, i think i could not let pass this deal.
But the gaz mileage is very bad, my tank is almost empty and i got 350km on it, it is mostly city driving but still bad. the guy that sell it to me said one of the oxygen sensor does not work. i know its controling gaz/air mix and all, but can it affect gaz mileage that much ??:confused:

My 2003 Echo shakes a stop lights with the brake pedal pressed. It is a lot worse with the air conditioner on. It doesn't do it at any other times. Thanks Rylan:headbang:

I had to change the dash lights on my echo and found out they are green because of little green covers on the bulbs. I left off the green covers and really like the white gauges with white light. I love how the dash pulls apart so quickly I changed the lights in the parking lot at the auto store in a couple of minutes. Anyone try a different color? hello can someone please tell me where is the oil filter of the vitz 2008 1.0 its a japan import and the local agent told me that you only change the cartridge on that model. in the European model you change the whole filter. the problem is that i couldn t find the filter from above and i didn t check from underneath.

My girlfriend has a 2000 Echo and had this code diagnosed. We had the Idle Air Control Valve removed, cleaned, reinstalled. Still came on. Cleaned the Wires, Came on a day or two later. Replaced it with a used part we got for next to nothing (no gaurantee it would work). Worked for 3 days, came back on. Now that we're moving into the replacing it stage, the problem is, most places I've looked don't have an "Idle Air Control Valve" but rather an "Idle SPEED Control Valve". Now, to me, these are two totally different things, but from what I've been reading they're both located in the same spot, so my question is - Are they the same part?

Just bought a 2002 Echo, and enjoying it. I would like to run some spacers in the rear. What size would be best without any rubbing?
I was thinking 20-25mm. Does anyone know where to buy spacers locally in Toronto?

looking for speaker sizes for the 4 door hatch

I'm either deaf and blind, because I can only find:
-2 upper dash/window speakers
-2 front door speakers

nothing past the rear seats.. what gives?



I'm also looking to upgrade the audio, has anyone mounted an amp under the drivers or front passengers seat?
