2009 Vs. 2010 Eps

Did Toyota re-tune the EPS for the 2010 Corolla's?

The EPS is really making it hard for me to decide whether or not to buy the 2010 Corolla S.

I hate my 2010 because of the wandering on the highway, so I'm guessing no.

I've got 350 miles on it...ya wanna buy it?

I'm seriously considering trying to trade out of it. The dealer I bought it from is about an hour to the nearest highway so I didn't do a highway test drive...BIG mistake.

I called the dealer to see if they'd take it back, but tough shit is the response I got...well I think they said sorry but tough shit is what I heard.

I have found that the car actually tracks okay above 80mph, so I'm sure a firmware upgrade would cure the problem...just Toyota is in no hurry to make a change.

After the initil horror of driving my car on the highway the first few times, I no longer notice the EPS at all after 2K miles of combined driving. My driving behavior adapted to the setup pretty quick.

My previous vehicle to this was a F150 that would keep going straight for miles if I fell asleep at the wheel. I keep my eyes on the road more now

Doubtful considering the car is still so new.

Go test drive it on both the city and highway, if you like it, buy it.

If you don't, then pass on it.

i have 400 miles on my 2010 S and I freakin love it! Not sure why everyone is hating on the steering...compared to my 01 this thing is a bad ass car! It's not as sweet as some other cars out there, but I also didn't pay $30k for it. For a $19k car this thing is sweet...so I say...LAY OFF AND LET IT BE WHAT IT IS...adapt to your new car....god forbid you have to figure out a slightly different feel...

I am going to rent one for 1 day and take it on a 300 mile test drive. This will help me make a decision. The dealer test drive of 10 miles is not enough to make an informed decision.

The EPS in the Corolla does need some fine tuning. That is fact. I have EPS in my Mazda3 and it feels totally different. The Corolla has a "wander" effect to it. This is especially true on the straight highway. It tends to "get away" fairly quickly and easily.

I really do not know what to do. Just keep my 2006 or get the 2010. If it wasn't for the EPS, I would get the 2010 in a heartbeat, but the EPS is really souring the deal.

Why couldn't Toyota fine tune it better?

Did you rent one?

I'm waiting to hear back from the dealer on a price to get my 2008 back. My 2010 has about 600 miles on it.

Yes, the 2009-10 Corolla has a "wander" effect to it. This is especially true on the straight highway. It tends to "get away" fairly quickly and easily. It is OK during city driving, it's the highway that kills it.

That's what I did before I purchased my 09. I thought I had a low tire because of the way the car tracked. I bought mine and I now hav 16K on it and I don't even notice the EPS.

I love this little 2010 S. I don't think it wanders at all and I can't believe a small car like this feels so stable at 100+ MPH. I "cash for clunkered' my 1999 Ford Explorer for the 2010 S and the gas mileage is unbelievable.

If you want to feel something wander, try driving a Mustang Cobra with 275/35/18's on the front or a Ford Expedition with 305/35/24's on the front. It will follow every groove in the road.

I couldn't agree more. I went on a 2500 mile trip to California and the car drove great. I'm not sure what people are talking about but my car drives straight and true with little effort. I don't think about it much, I just drive. It doesn't feel much different at highway speeds that my 07 Matrix, but my 89 MR2 S/C feels different, it does follow the road more where roads differences don't seem to bother my new 09 Corolla S. I love it!
