VERY STRANGE PROBLEM WITH MY GEN 4 CAMRY, can anyone solve this problem??
Hi All,
my car has been doing this for couple of months now. the RPM goes crazy see it for yourself (see video clip).
http://media.putfile.com/MOV0245678
(i was pressing the Accel pedal abit then i let go, thats why it dropped. Very strange the idle is around 400-600RPM)
http://media.putfile.com/MOV0245599
(I'm not pressing ANYTHING)
This does not usualy happend, it usualy happens after i put the car in "L" then back to "D" but sometimes it doesnt happens but sometimes it does. Even when i'm driving normally it does this.
I've just cleaned the Throttle body, is it the transmission or what is it??
please help me...
Thanks,
Leasaunce
EDIT: Usually i just put it in "N" and rev it up high to fix this problem (Brrooommmmm). so seriously i dont know whats wrong with it

Have you made sure that you reconnected everything correctly after cleaning the TB?

Could be all kinds of things...
My guess...weak battery.
Usually idle fluctuations like that (not that bad) are caused by
slightly low electrical system voltage. At idle your alternator output is lower.
Does your rpm drop slightly when you step on your brake?

yeah everything connected properly. this problem started couple of months ago.... not today. but its very rare does my RPM goes this crazy...
EDIT: it also happens when i brake hard suddenly (sometimes).
i was thinking its probably the transmission ECU or something??
I've recently changed the transmission oil, engine oil too sprak plugs too. but still the problem wouldnt go away

Try reseting your ECU amd see if that fixes it. Another thing to check is make sure your battery is fully charged. Your battry could be worn out causing your car to not get enough power, causing the problems you are having.

After you reset your ECU, you might find it work for a while, but then start happening again.
Try removing the IAC unit and clean it out. It may be gunked up. At the moment, mine does similar things because the bearings in the IAC are stuffed (i had them in thinners and melted the inards :S), so i require new ones. Try that out and give it a good clean.

my bet is mixed up vacuum lines, triple check everything around the TB and your intake.

Mine used to do the same thing until I replaced my EGR valve and the EGR Vacuum Modulator . Don't know how it fixed it but the problem is gone. It has been about three months since it last happend.

Camry-4-ever has it.
Unplug the EGR and plug the vacumm hose with a nail or golf tee.
Then take the car for a ride, and see wath happens.
You'll get a service code, it's O.K.
If this is a fix it means your EGR valve is toasted.
Good luck.
