Angry Sylvania SilverStar blue look... HIR?

I got a pair of the SilverStars and it helped 'more better' than the stock bulbs
BUT
the beam of light looked BLUE .
The wife and I were not happy with the BLUE look and were going to return them untill I got out of the car.
They no longer looked BLUE. They were very white.
There is a purple glaze over the bulb so at first I thought I got the wrong bulb.

I guess that the tint in the windshiled glass must be what causing the BLUE look.
Could the glaze/film over the bulb AND the tint in the windshield cause the light to look BLUE or will any white light, including HI or HID headlight bulb look BLUE through the windshield?
I have a 96 Camry with the light green paint.

I have a pair of the John Deere HIR bulbs http://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=11932
in my Land Cruiser and they are VERY white and bright.
They have no tint on the bulb. The paint on the LC is dark green.
I don't know what the color of the tint is on either vehicle.

Is there any reason not to use the HIR bulb in the stock headlight (heat related problems)?
Would I need to upgrade the harness?

I can just swap out the HIR's from the LandCruiser to the Camry to see if its still BLUE but I wanted to check here first before I swap them out.
The wattage is the same for the 9006. 55W for the HIR so I would guess the bulb would not cause harness damage but will it melt anything in the headlight?

My silverstars look very white with a slight bluish tint around the beam edges.

Glaring blue HID bulbs are NOT classy, and don't make your car look nice, no matter what that kid in the Civic told you.

My friend also has these bulbs i think. The bluish color goes away after the bulb warms up and should only be there wen u first turn on the lights.

I don't know where you get the 9011 hir's or how much they cost
BUT
You can get the HIR bulbs from John Deere for about $28 each. Part # AH211917
They need triming just like the other bulbs that are on the FAQ post about light bulbs.

So Silverstars don't have that tacky Bluish tint to it? right?

Man there are a bunch of these wanna be hid color bulbs out there that make the headlight color beam really dark blue I mean really blue.. Some may like it and that's OK, but I think its looks soooo tacky. Just my own 2 cents.

I am also aiming to have the most Whitest ( Actual Pure white (not Blueish)) headlight beams. Is Silverstar the way to go? I read on the Syllvania site that Silverstars are "The Whitest brishtest light"

But now since someone is mentioning the Bluish tint to it now., I'm a little concerned. Is this an Isolated incident or do Silverstars initially have a slight blue tint to it the first couple hundred miles?

Could some TN'ers who have Silverstars post some day & night shots of their beams Pleaseee. I wanna see the true color.

I have Silverstars in my 96 Cam. I don't notice ANY blue tint at all really, they are pure white as far as I can see. That's with the stock/original head lamps, which are slightly yellowed now. But yeah, they don't seem blue at all to me.

WOW if they are real HIR (which i guess they are) thats the best price i seen normaly they are like 200 from bmw or about 50 each off ebay.

the 9011 is the GE style number for the high beam HIR 9012 being the low beam

mystickid, you've got it all wrong... its not bluish for the first hundred miles. It looks SLIGHTLY blue when you first turn on your headlights until the bulb warms up. Then its pure white. These are what I've got for SilverStars for headlights and fog lights..

HIR are plug and play. Same wattage = no need to upgrade the harness.

HIR are FAR superior to any other halogen bulb. There will be a slight increase in glare, but nothing too major (not like an HID kit).
