Ok... I'm not going to argue here. But, I will try to explain... the screwdriver (or, you could use a plastic scraper if so inclined) doesn't touch the paint. It is used for a total of about 3 seconds on each emblem. The ONLY thing it's used for it to pry up the very edge of the heated-up emblem enough to get a fingertip underneath. I'm not scraping the thing off with a rusty nail. ANY item stiff enough to pry up the edge of the emblem could be employed. A small screwdriver, in my hands, poses absolutely zero risk to my paint.

An attempt at a witty reply?

Again... there's nothing to argue about here. Obviously, either method works. Apparently, you think your way is "right" and all others are "wrong". Are you a Jehova's Witness, too?

Hes just sayin that if your emblems are on there real good and someone doesnt heat them up enough and they go and stick a screwdriver back there and try to pry, chances are they are gonna slip off the emblem and scratch the shit out of there truck. Chances are it could happen anyway even in your 3 seconds. Noone here wants to take that chance except a few. Plastic maybe, screwdriver absolutely not. Its just not worth it. Nothing more needs to be said.

Maybe you're right. It's obvious that some of you need to stay FAR, FAR away from any sharp objects.

I don't really understand what your point is here. You gave advice. Everyone pretty much agrees that it's not good advice. Now you are trying to convince us it is by insulting me?!?
I was just saying it's a not a good idea and why risk it?
For SOME reason you feel it necessary to disagree with that, which is your opinion, but you can do so without the childish insults and unfunny remarks.

My intention wasn't to insult you. Just to explain the method. Biggest difference between us, I guess, is that I could not care less whether anyone else does it the way I did it or not. I was just explaining to you HOW I did it since it didn't seem to be sinking in that it is very, very easy to do without hurting anything. That's not "my opinion". It's a fact. I did it to the last three vehicles I've owned.
Again... no offense intended. But, to assume someone can't do what I outlined without scratching their truck all to shit is akin to saying that someone shouldn't drive on the highway because there's always the chance that they'll swerve into an oncoming semi loaded with steamrollers. You're creating a solution for a problem that doesn't exist.
That's all. No hard feelings, I hope.

For the sticky residue left over from the emblems I would recommend Goof Off. This stuff rules and will take anything off. I would buff over it when finished. I took off my wifes 98 camry pin stripes a couple months ago with a hair dryer, goof off, and some patience. I recommend using it in a well ventilated area, though - P...U....
