windshield chips and cracks

Hello, does anyone know of any thing you could buy to help prevent getting so many windshield chips? Also, when I recently got a rock chip it immediately ran across the window about 20 inches! Another Scion xb owner told me he had put 3 windshields in since last Oct.

My wife has a Honda Element that has the same problem. Supposedly they are doing a recall, maybe Scion will too. I put a "bug deflector" on mine....so far so good.

Rock Chips are unfortunatly the life of a car. On xB's, because of the more verticle slope of the windshield, the rocks hit at a more perpindicular angle to the glass and cause more damage.

On most cars, the window has a more horizontal angle and rocks will tend to be deflected and cause less damage.

I've had to replace my windshield 3 times.
