Somebody is making some money. That same exact bumper was $550+ shipping less than 1 year ago, and that was straight from Rocktek. That's some pretty serious inflation on manhours and/or the price of steel in 6 months.
I'm also pretty interested in this, since I need a new rear bumper.I was thinking of going with the rear bumper from armorology, but they quoted me $1500 approx for their bumper, including body work...

But with Armorology you are getting custom work, everything built to spec just for your truck.

PB, the guy at Rocktec called me back last fall when he'd just completed a new batch of those bumpers and quoted me the $550+ shipping. This would have been around September-October. I opted out, but he must have sold them all in a hurry b/c the next thing ya know the price jumped $250 (w/o shipping).
i dont see too much of an advantage on this one. if i want as much clearance as this, i'll take off my hitch. maybe afew inches more than the stock bumper. if u want real clearance, cut bedsides and go custom. but the only thing i see n this is a much beefier bumper that won't bend as easily on trails. but or $800... i'll pass.

I'm sure the approach angle is a lot better than with the stock bumper. Have you seen all the wasted space inside the stock bumper.
Besides, there's a lot of things we don't have to have to go offroading, but we buy them anyway.
Compared to the price of some suspensions a $800 bumper is pocket change. A $3000 suspension lift doesn't help a whole lot compared to stock, but everybody has em.

Departure angle, unless your driving through the trail in reverse
I agreee though, it does seem like a lot of money, but compare that to what some have spent on their sound systems. People dump thousands into something that works pretty damn well form the factory IMHO.

i guess if u put it that way, ur right. it is a good looking bumper, and i would go for it. but for that price, theres just no way. i bought my arb for cheaper than that.

And that's my point, too. $800 gets you 2 d-ring mounts and maybe 1/2" of departure angle, and an uglyass license plate hanging down waiting to get crumpled. I don't see how you can can really call it high-clearance, either, when it occupys the same space as the stock bumper. Maybe if you replace your stock hitch, but if you have no hitch to replace, you're not gaining any measurable clearance over the stock bumper. I, too, shall pass on this in leu of a better application for the money, like a flatbed.
If a new bumper with with PC is $650 + shipping= $800, how is $799 shipped a deal? They're knocking off that whole $1? That's mighty white of them.
