Rather than wait 2 weeks check QRZ.com http://www.qrz.com/callsign in 3 to 5 days they should have your new call sign listed. Can't believe the testers didn’t tell you about that.
Way to go on your new tech lic.
I do not know which mount you were looking at but you have a ton of options.
I have a hood lip mount for comet that works well
I have also drilled a hole in the fender and cab top in other trucks for mounts.
Mostly I have installed attached a flange mount - attached with screws right into fender.
Alot of it depends on what you are looking for---ie distance for dx, watts your pushing, and durability of the ant. A cab top mount tuned with SWR meter you can reach out, but if you are not looking fo distance in flat land, you can get away with a short lip mount.
again - way to go

Sites shown above are good sources of antenna info, but if you don't see any/enough pictures of front installations, look up a little about Australian UHF CB 476-477 mHz (not legal here), and you will see plenty of front mounts; hood/fender, and even front bumper, plus the majority will be Toyota 4WD trucks/utes. Seems most everyone down under keeps there antenna up front where they can keep an eye on them.
i have a stainless steel plate mounted to my bed fender right at the front corner of the bed by the cab bought the steel at the hardware store and mounted it under the bed cap then ran the coax through the air vent in the back of the cab KC2SUZ here

Thats it! Thanks guys! Yeah, gonna shell out the bucks for an yaesu 1802 and some sort of antenna soon. Just trying to figure out a good way to mount this thing without making holes in the truck.
So, are some of these CB brackets? You can use them?
The brackets I used here are for my VHF radio ant.

Well, with several recommendations for HRO, I ordered a Yaesu FT2800M, comet mount and coax (1 item), and diamond antenna. 240 total.
Package came today, inside, I found a radio and packing slip, nothing more. Packing slip shows 3 items. Emails show one tracking number. So, gotta wait until tomorrow to call them and see what is going on.
I hope it was just a one time thing, I had heard good things about HRO.
Still haven't gotten my call sign yet. Hopefully soon.
Well guys, got my Antenna and mount and installed it all. Used hole in the firewall on the passanger side and am going to velcro the radio to the side of the console by the shifter.
I'll take some pictures later.
Thanks for the links GrumpyOldMan.
I check QRZ today and what do you know?!
