Kind of weird that they are recalling '89-'98s, but OK...

Shows that Toyota is dedicated to what they produce, even 16 years after they were built

Yeah, supposedly no reported accidents or injuries due to this defect either.

Ha this recall (a very minor one) pales in comparison to this.:http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9241475 Ford is having EVEN MORE Problems with those switches. So much for America being the best at trucks.

It is better to recall them voluntarily than to let the NHTSA get involved. Besides if it is a safety issue it needs to be taken care of.

That's always ben Toyota's policy. Once they've determined theres a potential problem, bring 'em all back in and get it fixed. Best way to retain a customer.

As opposed to GM with the "screw you, you own it so you fix it" attitude.

But I think we can all thank Ford and Firestone for upping the ante on recalls and campaigns.

I guess it's time to dust off the ol' beater and send it over to the Toyota dealer when I get the notice.

I'm guessing the the rods wouldn't last as long as expected, and fatigue would ware them out more. Good thing Toyota still cares about all those old vehicles.

Geez, Toyota is sure on a recall kick the past couple of months or so. I just got a recall for the lower front balljoints on my 2002 Tundra because there is a chance they will seperate.

My brother in law's 1994 Toyota 4x4 Xtracab is affected by this recall, he should receive a recall for it soon, I would guess. It has over 200K miles on it and, of course, still runs great.

I'm certainly happy to own products that the company will stand behind, even though they are of "advanced" age!

wish they would've recalled my camry for the bad half-shafts

and included mine in the A/C Expansion valve TSB (I was exempt cuz mine was built in Kentucky, and not Toyota City)
