96 T100 Cup Holder

I am a new owner of a 96 T100. My soon to be 16 year old son has already laid claim to the truck and I have'nt even driven it yet. My question is about the cupholder. I replaced the Stereo and discovered that the cup holder tray was just laying in there covering the hole. I am concerned that this is going to cause a rattling noise when I finally do get to drive this. Should I invest the time / money / energy in repairing this or should I just stuff some foam in there to keep the tray from making noise?

It shouldn't rattle at all, I have an aftermarket stereo in my 96 T-100, and have never had a rattling problem. Besides, the stock cup holder locks in when it is open and closed.
