Who needs Richard @ Brullen and EL Prototypes! Today I decided to make my own cold air intake for my 92 V6. Wasn't too hard, Dickson witnessed pretty much the whole thing...even when my air flow meter flipped off! The pipe is a 3" polished stainless steel pipe, heavier than aluminum but it doesn't conduct heat as fast. The rest of the materials were from Home Depot and Crap Tire.
Drove it around after, there is a noticeable increase! Finally! I think my cone filter in the engine bay and catback really screwed me of low end power...my gf drove my car home one day and SHE even said my car didn't accelerate as well as it did before. Oh plus, I just cleaned my TB a few days ago, that helped a tiny bit.
Anyway, here are the pics, you can see about 10 more detailed pics at the link below. About 600K of pics...800x600. More Pics
I'm doing my CAI tomorrow (Sun).
Right now I have a 'custom' cool air intake.
I've got marine grade rubber pipe to extend it down into the same place as yours. Can't wait !
I'll take pics of mine too (before and after)
Cheers,

looks real good. props on the DIY. i might try and tackle this project myslef. but i think i'm leaning toward getting the muffler shop to bend me some pieces when i eventually get an exhaust put in.
did you have a splash guard under the engine bay? are you putting that back on?
Thanks for the compliments...I'm pretty happy with it.
As for water, everything is all sealed up with mud guards and stuff so I don't have to worry about water splashing in from below or from behind from the tires. The only real way dirt and water could get in would be from the front where there's a small opening for fresh air to get in. I HIGHLY doubt that I have to worry about water in the filter but now that I think about it, it would be safer if the filter was a bit higher. I definitely don't need an AEM bypass valve, I don't drive through pools of water. Why is everyone always so concerned about water???
The filter is a tenzo-R filter, nothing special. It's probably crap but my bro has an extra K&N cone sitting in the family room. I should throw that in, or I'll just buy one at Speedtech. I dunno why I keep on buying these sh*tty filters....
Well, I did my CAI yesterday too.
Sorry no pics - I took some, but my crappy digicam was all fuzzed up
I'll take some again soon.
Sounds cool  doesn't look as impressive though since the filter is hidden in the fender and all you see is the big marine grade rubber pipe heading down under the fuse/relay box... oh well.
I can't believe all of the plastic junk that the use on the stock intake system though, must weigh a few pounds when you total up the in-fender "box", the little intake snorkel at the front, the air box, the big rubber flex hose and that other resonator thingy after the stock box !
Fun 2 hr project yesterday afternoon - thanks for the inspiration !
Cheers,
