Take a look at pressroom.toyota.com, as they have an announcement of the release of the tC supercharger. It looks pretty much like the pictures shown elsewhere, with a drive shaft running longitudinally from the belt side to the intake side of the engine bay, a step-up gearbox, and a centrifugal supercharger. A little pricey at $3500 or so, but I'd still consider one.
It says it is available, but we still can't get one. And the price is more like $5000 from what we are being told (southeast toyota).
I can say there has been a great deal of interest since they originally announced it in 04, but for the tC customer base, it is a bit high priced. But to have factory F/I, and trd quality...not to shabby.
if installed the supercharger, it voids your factory warranty
what are you talking about??!! you make no sense, since TRD as well as scion have already stated that IT IS COVERED by the remainder of the powertrain warranty 5yrs/60k miles, as long as it's installed by the dealer.. if someone else does it it's 1yr/12k mile warranty..
Yeah, and it's under 60,000 miles warranty if installed by the stealership. I would love to have one, but honestly the price is a bit much for me.
Yep, it's a bit too much for me as well (I'm not cheap, I'm just not willing to spend $3500+ on an uninstalled supercharger that'll stress out my engine block and diminish it's life expectancy and durability). I also noticed the disclaimer stating that you MUST use 91 octane gas once this is installed. With gas prices as high as they are now (especially here in California), that's a pretty expensive investment. Speed and performance is great, but this ain't the Nextel Cup and I'm not in a hurry to get anywhere quicker than I already can without getting a speeding ticket.

vespa5 - first, they are still giving you a hell of a warranty. Second, not exactly like they are sending 350 lb. ft. of torque to the tranny, this seems like a way to IMPROVE THE POWER CURVE, not really make more HP and torque. I bet the engine and driveline will not be too stressed.
Any idea of the 0-60 time? 6.5 seconds?

The TRD SC is a very good mod, puts a stock tC at about 200WHP, and is covered by a Toyota warranty. Toyota would not offer a FAT warranty on something if they knew it would "stress out my engine block and diminish it's life expectancy and durability."
On another note, Road & Track recently reviewed the SC tC and published some numbers:
0-60 6.9
0-100 17.1
1/4mile 15.1 @ 94mph
Keep in mind, these guys took the test car out and just ran once or twice to come up with these numbers. There have already been several people who have ran stock SC cars in the 14s with some practice and getting used to the behavior of these cars.
And finally, the TRD SC has a huge upside. The vortech SC is capable of reaching 20psi levels without running into problems. Slap on an overdrive pulley from NST, www.NonStopTuning.com and go have some fun.
i bought a 2006 tC and they offered it to me and i wished i would have gone ahead and had it installed... i was told it was only 3k extra to have it done but still it does seem a little pricy but probably worth it... My buddy put the S/C on his tundra and it improved it dramatically...

Don't get me wrong, the Scion dealership told me that if I modify the car with TRD components, that it would not void my warranty for the car in general. I'm just not big on messing with an already good Toyota engine. I have a 1999 PreRunner Tacoma with 200,000+ miles and a 1992 Celica 120,000+ miles, both with the same engine I bought them with. And they are both stock engines with no mods. Mods seem to diminish the life expectancy of a toyota engine faster than normal. I could see the reasoning for a supercharger if I absolutely need the speed or if I'm competing on a race track. With the supercharger and mods like exhaust and intake, that makes the car almost 25grand (including taxes). There are so many choices of finer cars than the tC if you are willing to spend about 25grand or more. That's just my opinion. Besides, no matter what you do to make your car faster, there will always be someone out there faster than you or a better driver/speedster than you.
