Yea, it was about $100 for all the parts. I'm sure you can wait to see if a 4Runner shows up at a junk yard to see if you can get your hands on the switch. I would also shop around. I just picked it up from the local dealer. I felt that I should since they helped me search for the right part and all. That would be kinda messed up if I had them do all the leg work (I know it's not alot, but still), then go get it from someone else.

How did you wire to the HVAC lights? I want to do this mod but want to make sure I have everything ready.
Thanks.

That website, also, had the D-rings I've been looking for. (My Tacoma only came with two, near the rear, but I need 2 more near the front to secure my motorcycle.)
The set of D-Rings is PT785-35054 and costs $19.20. (MSRP is $25.)

It's really worth $65-$100 to you guys to have the 4x4 selector lit?

Honestly, it's not that easy to see the switch at night. You don't use it all that often, so it's nice to be able to look at it and know where it is vs. feeling around for the switch. Makes it that much quicker to engage.
"Is is worth it?" I think it is.. but that's me.

Brightness
I'm looking at doing this mod, however I'm wondering is there anyway to brighten up the illumination? I appears from the link that this is a very dull illumination, especially in comparison to the rest of the dash lights, can we put in a brighter bulb or anything??
Thanks.

Someone else who did this mod said they put in one of the bulbs from the HVAC controls. The bulb in there is a lager bulb and it fits in the socket just fine. The only problem is that the bulb is plain white, there is no orange cover on the bulb so you loose the color match.
