Daytime Running Lights mod?

Anyone have a write up on how to activate the DayTime Running lights on our trucks? I actually do like having the turn signals lit all the time. It gives the truck a pretty cool look at least to me. Any help would be appreciated.

thanks,
Pat

I agree I love the look and I can spot another Taco comming at me for blocks. Check out the wiring diagram thread it may help to do this mod.

If you check out page 2 of my Cardomain site below, there are pictures and a brief writeup on how to do the DTRL mod. The way that I did it allows the parking lights and running (turn signal) lights to be on at the same time. Others have just switched the wires so that the parking lights become the turn signals- no thanks! I like how mine turned out.
Good luck.

hey ADRENALITE i want to do the same mod you have done but when the blinkers are on with the marker lights, do they still blink when when you flip the indicator switch. do they also stay on when you turn the headlights on at night also.

Yes and Yes! The blinkers do blink brighter when the indicator is flipped. And both the running lights and marker lights stay on when the headlights come on-- I think it looks a whole lot better than the stock setup. If you want I can snap a shot tonight and post it on my site.

adrenalinate,
Sorry about that, computer error. Anyways, I like your DTRL mod. I'm taking it they come on automatically when the key is turned, without turning on the lights...?

Yeah, I've got it wired so that I can leave my light switch turned to the marker lights and they'll come on and off with the ignition. I've added a picture (so-so quality) of what it looks like with the headlights on (page 2).

I'll take more pics next week after I install my new Xenon bulbs so that people can see what they look like with the running + marker lights on.

I can't take credit for this mod as I pieced it together from a post I found over at CT. Still, I'll do my best to answer any q's anybody has.

Where is the turn signal connector located? And can you list the parts I need to do this please. I know its a dump question. So far I got the 16g wire, epoxy, what else?

the turn signal connector is what I called the plugged terminal in the back of the turn signal bulb. With a pick, take out the plug, strip back some wire so that it can touch the terminal inside the bulb housing, stick the wire in the hole and put epoxy around it to seal it. once i ran the black wire over to the green wire of the marker lights, I cut the green, stripped them back, as well as the black, and twisted them all together. I finished it off with a wire nut and electircal tape.

there may be a cleaner way to do it, but this worked for me.
