Scan Gauge group buy
I've been wanting one of these for a while, and I've seen some of you guys talking about 'em too. http://www.scangauge.com/
I got a dealer to give us a group deal. This is his site. http://3n1autocomputer.com/index.html
The retail on these is $130. We can get it for $110 shipped, through this group buy. He will ship to PayPal Confirmed addresses only. I'll post the special URL once he gives it to me. The deal will be good 'til March 24th.
These things are awesome. I'm unemployed, but I still gotta get one.
I'm convinced, after I talked to a few people that have 'em. I think somebody else here on TN has one too.
You can check - Fuel economy
- Fuel rate
- Battery voltage
- Coolant temperature
- Intake air temperature
- Engine speed ( RPM )
- Vehicle speed ( MPH )
- Manifold pressure ( not available on some vehicles )
- Engine load
- Throttle position
- Ignition timing
- Fuel open/closed loop
- Maximum speed
- Average speed
- Maximum coolant temperature
- Maximum RPM
- Driving time
- Driving distance
- Fuel used
- Trip fuel economy
- Reads trouble codes
- Reads conditions that set the Trouble Code
- Clears trouble codes
- Turns off " Check Engine " light
- Make & store up to 10 rewritable special codes to send to the vehicle computer
The hood struts was a great group buy, but I think this one will be even more useful. You just plug it into the ODB2 plug and then mount it. I will probably mount it in that cubby under the A/C controls.
Let me know if you're in.

I like the idea. But its ulgly as hell. It looks like it was made in 1970 I wish it was more modern looking.
Is there PDF for the installation?

If it was more modern looking it would cost $400.
It should look pretty good if I can flush mount it.

I wonder why they didn't just make it a 1 DIN high unit. If you ever go to an aftermarket stereo, you always have that dorky little cubby hole left there where you could put something like this. Every vehicle I've had for almsot 20-years has had space to mount something like this in that spot. Instead, you have to velcro that clunker to the dash? There is no good spot in a Taco for it IMHO.
I still may buy one just for a diagnotic tool, but I doubt I would leave it out anywhere, removing a lot of the usefullness.

Any ideas where to flush mount it? It would be nice if the LEDs were red.

Some of the pics I've seen look like its backlit with orange or red. I'll find out for sure.
You could always mount it in that silver plastic peice that surrounds the shifter and has the cupholder. With an auto trans there's a big blank spot next to the cup holder. Plus, if you decided to get rid of the Scan Gauge that peice would be semi-cheap and easy to replace, compared to cutting on the dash or center console. Get out the Dremmel!
Or maybe mount it in that cubby to the lower right of the steering wheel.

I'm pretty sure that it would pay for itself after a while, by letting you see realtime how your driving is affecting your MPG. Plus being able to check and clear error codes could save a lot of money too. IMO

Hey Guys,
The display is amber with orange buttons.
The thing is very clunky and retro looking, but works very well and is very informative.
I mounted mine on top of my steering column with the supplied velcro and seem to like it better than anywhere else I thought of mounting it permanently.
Any questions, let me know and I will try and answer.
PB, you especially and anyone who wants to be very in touch with their trucks performance and MPG econ will be impressed with the scanguage.
Plus I can unplug it and pop it into the wife's maxima for some details.
Very cool, I just wish it was smaller and more modern.
I got mine from a dist on ebay for $110 shipped to my door and it came from AZ in like 2 days.
I will get you his info you anyone is interested.
Later

The web site says it uses the ODBII connector. I thought I read somewhere that the Tacoma uses something "newer" than the ODBII as I think I saw a thread somewhere that a standardard ODBII reader didn't work without some modification/upgrade?
