Boost Gauge install write up. 05+ taco

#1
Choose the location of your install:

2: Pop cover off by gently prying from the top. There are three clips holding it in. Once done, you will see this:

3: Run your vacuum line. Since the controller is mounted by the glove box, run the vacuum line in front of the console in between it and the firewall.
Once by the driverside floorboard, you should be able to route it up into this hole fairly easily.
Choose where you are grabbing your 12v+ switched and ground from, and get that up here also for the gauge.
Next you should see this:

4: Okay, my gauge is 2 1/16", so I used a hole saw on my drill and made a 2" hole right in the middle of the black plastic. Now BEWARE... the middle is difficult to eyeball due to the shape of the piece. I suggest taking all the time in the world right here... you mess up this hole, and you are done.
Next I slipped the gauge into the hole I drilled.

5: Complete your connections to the vacuum and illumination for the gauge, and pop it into place.
If you drilled the hole on the black piece in the right spot, it should pop in using the existing clips and hold very well without a problem at all.

Finished Product:

Lit Up :

That is a sweet install! I never would have thought of putting a guage there. I guess it helps that it already has the hole from where the 4X4 switch should be. How is that supercharger working out for you?

That location will require you to take your eyes off the road. What about a pillar mount?

I wonder if any aftermarket company will come out with a guage pod for the Tacoma that fit right on top of the dash above the stereo . I want to hook up water temp and oil pressure guage. I haven't seen any pics here about guys who have installed aftermarket guages.

How much boost are you running, and what was the effect on your gas mileage? Do you have to run 91?

Nice writeup. Seems like a pretty easy install. Looks great. Love the blue when it's lit.

Only 4 PSI for now, I am running a low boost pulley.
In Florida we have 93, not 91 for premium, but I have been running 93 since day 1 anyhow. Now I have a reason to.

Huh?
