Are there any roof bike racks that are compatable with the Yaris? I've looked at Thule's and Yakima's bike rack sites and they say there isn't one... please tell me that's not true
I'm debating between a roof rack and a hitch myself. Maybe you should try looking into the hitch? Toyota actually sells one for the yaris. What I'm not sure of is if it's only in Canada or here also (because of whatever regulations, toyota may not have it available in one country).
Okay, dunoo about Yakima, but Thule based in CT is preparing to make one for the yaris hatch.
There is more info here: http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14061
So I guess it's a matter of waiting. You can try calling up corporate and see if they are planning anything for the yaris if you are dead set on a Thule system.

For what its worth, I got a hitch. I don't have to hoist the bike up to the top of the car, but most important, the bikes are out of the air stream which means not compromising fuel economy and speed, the bikes stay cleaner and I can use the hitch as a bike stand.
Toyota sells bike racks (roof- and hitch-). They also sell the roof tops (both for 3-door and 5-door) and the hitch itself for the Yaris Hatchback... in Europe.
My toyota dealer here told me Toyota Canada doesn't sell any of those. If I want them from Europe I have to pay a huge transport fee. If I don't get "proper" toyota parts and have a trouble happening to the car while it's on it, my care plan for the car is void.
Anyone willing to import toyota parts from EU?
Well if you're going to go through the hassle of importing things, why not try aftermarket companies? I Know U-haul has hitches for passenger cars (not sure about the yaris).
I too have had trouble finding devices for carrying all the sports equipment I use. I have the basic Toyota rack for a 2004 Echo, which I use on my 2007 Yaris (advisedly or not), but I spent the winter strapping my skis to it with bungies. My dealer says there is no accessory for the rack, but recently I saw a ski sandwich-type addition to a rack like mine on a Yaris parked in Montreal. Did it come from Europe?
Currently, there are zero options for a rack for the U.S. hatchback. In Canada/Europe/Rest of the world, they make racks that'll fit the five-door liftbacks, but nothing for the U.S. two door. Thule says they're going to come out with one, but they've been saying that for months now.
there is only one company in the US that makes a rack for the yaris. Thule and Yakima both said they gave up on making it. check out www.innoracks.com. They are a japanese company as well which i liked. The only bad thing is you can't order from their website.
