I get what I think are Norway rats. BIG ones. Yours look like woodrats.

- today's catch
- the official number is 17 caught in 15 consecutive days since the airbox-incident..
- I'm going to start naming them versus numbering them I think......
- note the varmint cemetery in the background
- I am keeping Toyota safe

Ummm they all do?

Try Jif!! Paint the can/spindle middle a good thick layer you can heat peanut butter in microwave to make MAX sticky, it should stay on unless its real hot. Put in shade, run overnight etc. Rats is nocturnal mainly, or crepuscular*

* not really, they're nocturnal but I love that word

- Jif might be a little too high-dollar for mah blood
- might need to use the family-dollar version.. since we're talking about crepuscular rat bait here
- problem is it is desert here, so hot, I am concerned the PB won wont adhere to the spindle
- perhaps peanutbutter suspended in silicone caulk?
- either way I will give it a try, thanks for the suggestions..

If this thread were a movie, it would be rated:

A good rat is a dead rat, btw......or one which volunteers for scientific experiments.

- In case anyone think this thread has just devolved into rat Pr0n it has NOT
- the plot thickens!
- after cleaning mah airbox from the dead rat and nest I STILL felt I was down on power (even though removing it boosted power a tad)
- today I went to get the car ready for CA SMOG

- I went to check the base timing (required for smog)
- I went to put the inductive pickup on wire number 1 and ***SHAZAM!*** I got about 20,000 volts up my A$$!!!
- no joke

- I stood there shocked (no pun) for a moment thinking, ive done this a million times before...
- I went to look closer at the wires and, yep:

- TWO NGK blues had be halfway chewed!!! FFFFFUUUUUUUUUUuuuuuuuuuuu!!!
- Rat-tastic!

- NOW I know why I still felt down on power AND why the idle was a little rough!!
- it was hard to see on casual inspection but cylinder 1 and 2 are getting weak sparks due to these ******* rats!!

- this morning I caught #20... yes 20:

- ALWAYS check wire conditions BEFORE you put that inductive pickup on the wires
- I was wearing rubber gloves and STILL got a 20,000 volt jolt
- it was not cool
- not at all

- now I need to order some NGK blues again and see if I finally get that 5SFE power back!
