Adding rear vents to console

My 2004 Camry doesn't have any vents except for the small floor vents for the rear passengers. I'd like to add the vents that are located in the console. I know the vent duct is already right there for the floor vents, so I imagine it can't be that hard to add them. Has anyone done this or attempted this before?

Look at a parts diagram. It will show you maybe what is possible.

I did some more research and found three possible part numbers for the panel itself-

58923-AA020-A, A55649-A010, 58860-AA010

I'm not sure which is correct but I saw one with all three of these numbers molded onto it. I can't find any parts diagrams, can anyone possibly help with that?

Not sure about your year, but in my '09, when you remove the shifter console, it looks like there is a vent stub that could be tapped into and run back to that console you show a picture of.

Camry Mod

THIS

Your best bet is to go to the junk yard and find a donor car with the vents. I know the XLE trim has them. Pull all the parts you need and you’re good to go

Yep, I think you are right. I'll have to find an XLE in a junkyard. The only potential problem I see is the handbrake may be in the way of the duct. The XLEs have a pedal parking brake whereas the LEs and SEs have a handbrake. I don't want to give up the handbrake.

Still, I could possibly make my own duct that routes around the handbrake. A piece of small diameter flexduct would probably be perfect.

This may help, but finding used would probably be better route.

I took a ride out to the junkyard today and investigated this a little further. The rear piece of the console with the actual vents WILL fit. The rear half of the ductwork that wraps around the console box WILL fit. The front piece of ductwork from the AC box to the middle of the console WILL NOT fit. The emergency brake assembly is in the way. The only way to make it fit would be to convert to a pedal actuated emergency brake and install an XLE console without handbrake.

I'd like to have rear vents, but it's not worth trading my handbrake for. Oh well, at least we now know.
