Sub install with factory JBL equipped head unit

Hey guys, first time on here. I have an 09 Camry xle with the JBL system In it. My question is, what do I need to install a subwoofer and amp setup while keeping the stock HU ? I’ve read since it’s the JBL one there’s extra steps / adapters and I’m not sure what. What all do I need and what would I need to do to make this happen ?

Welcome to the site Ejb.

I would discuss this with a retailer like Crutchfield. They know the systems and can provide all the necessary harnesses and interfaces to make it happen. I imagine the work will be at the amp under the passenger seat as the factory HU does not have sub output connectors (I don't think - other than a possible unused harness location). At any rate those people at Crutchfield will answer that question for you, give you options on subs (etc.) to buy, provide all the necessarily kits, and provide instructions.
