Unhappy transfer case repair

Anyone know what it involves to replace motor in transfer case or would it be cheaper to replace transfer case from bone yard.

Transfer case has to come out either way, a used T-Case with the motor are about $800 avg or use your T-Case and a used motor is $150-$300.
B-In-Law was quoted $2000k on his 2007 to have a shop do it, 10 hrs labor! T case has to be split open to pull the electric motor.
He sold the truck with the issue unresolved and bought a 2009.
