Unhappy Long List of Complaints with Toyota Design

I plan to outline a LONG list of Toyota Design faults and failure to care about Customer Satisfaction and how it is due their arrogant design philosophy. Japanese engineers are lacking in completing the loop, touches and finesse to satisfy customers. i.e. why Toyota is heading for declining market share. First installment is with my frustration and lack of transparency of function in their safety systems e.g. PCS and TSS. And if they cannot deliver on the most critical systems in your car - Safety - then no wonder they miss the boat completely on things like Navigation systems, my 2nd installment. UGH Toyota. Never again. I own a RAV4 2016 Limited (loaded). rk

Too bad, sorry to hear that. My experiences have been very different, but I guess that's the way it goes. I'll move your thread over to the Feedback forum so others can offer their own insight into design complaints, etc.

That sucks. I've only owned two Corollas, never fully loaded but Toyota is my brand. Never had any huge issues with them.

On my '96 Corolla the transmission was nearing the end of it's life. weak acceleration, I would lose at least 10KM/hr uphill WHILE flooring it, you could hear the engine bog down under load so I used the transmission as a manual. (It was an auto btw) upshifting, downshifting it was sweet. Lots of power in 2nd gear! Then I was downshifting one day and slammed it into REVERSE while going 60Km/hr.

Engine stalled of course, but fired up right away and drove without any issues for another 30,000Km before I scrapped it. Had 465,495KM on it the day it was scrapped. It would have made 500K I'm sure.

Basically, for me, Toyota makes safe reliable cars that have good looks as well. I love them.

I'd like to read your list when you get the chance to post it though.

Yes, not arguing Toyota reliability is tops, basically good cars for sure. However, trying to make them better, their Design philosophy is lacking. Also, with machining and related technology today, all cars are much more reliable e.g. it is hard to find a lemon engine for this reason from any company, they all use same CNC etc. machining metal to very high tolerances, metal alloys have improved over the years, etc.

However, the Japanese designer / management are losing touch with consumers and especially technology in their vehicles. They are not providing the value their any more. Just my opinion. I have visited over 500 manufacturers of auto parts over the years in my job. Seen that a lot of the vehicle improvements actually come from their suppliers - Toyota and Japanese manufacturers in general are not getting max value from them anymore from my observations. In technology that is. Pays more to compare North American manufacturers if you after the technology in your vehicle, advances have been made for sure. Maybe soon to surpass Toyota, etc.
