Well... first of all you'd have to resolve whatever condition caused the light to trigger in the first place. Assuming you've done that, get two paper clips out, and also a piece of electrical wire. Start by securing the electrical wire to a ground point in the engine bay. Have the other end of the wire exposed, and within reach of the diagnostics tower. Now bend the paper clips out, and connect one to the Tc terminal and another one to the AB terminal in the diagnostics port. That will expose those two ports so you can easily perform the procedures below. For the alternating grounds, simply use the exposed wire end to touch the correct paper clip:
- Bridge terminals Tc and AB of the diagnostics port under the hood (push the paper clips together).
- Turn the ignition switch to ACC or ON and wait approximately 6 seconds (now let let paper clips sit independently of each other, one stuck in Tc and one stuck in AB)
- Starting with the Tc terminal, apply body ground alternately to terminal Tc and terminal AB twice each in cycles of 1 (+- 0.5 seconds). Confirm that the body ground is absolute.
- Finally keep applying body ground to terminal Tc
HINT: When alternately grounding the terminals Tc and AB, release ground from one terminal and immediately apply it to the other terminal This action must be done within the time limits above. If you are not within the time limits, repeat the procedure until you clear the codes.
Just like RollaDad said. Also, you know you did it right when the SRS warning light is rapidly flashing on the dashboard (while the terminal Tc is grounded to the chassis).
