Post 2010 Corolla S 5spd 2ZR-FE Turbo

Ok, so most of us know that Turbokits.com recently released the 2ZR-FE turbo kit for the 09+ Corolla [A video is now on the site]: Turbo Kit Link
SPEC has also released a few upgrade options for the clutch: SPEC Clutch Link

Update 05/31/2013
Dyno Charts and Video on Page 8!!

I will be installing this kit on my 2010 Corolla S 5spd:
Turbokits.com 2ZR-FE Turbo Kit
Turbokits.com 3" Turbo Back Exhaust
SPEC Stage 3+ Clutch
AEM Wideband Air/Fuel Gauge
AEM Boost gauge
AEM Voltage Gauge

This post will be updated with some general pictures and information as I go. I DO NOT plan to post a DIY for the install here (too complex), but if anyone has some questions I can try to answer them.

I want to thank Turbokits.com for taking the time to develop the kit for our cars. I know that a few people have reached out to them to make this a reality. I have dealt with Grant and Jesse over there via email and they are great guys! Very fast to respond to all of my emails over the last few weeks, even after the purchase was made.

I will personally be preforming the installation hopefully on 03/22, and I plan for it to take me a few days.

I found a local tuner shop and I sent them an email asking for some pricing information. Initially I wasn't going to do a before Dyno, but now I'm considering it... If the price is right I may go for it. My engine is bone stock minus a SRI (which makes more noise than anything).

In the mean time enjoy a few unboxing pictures! (Sorry, no pics of the exhaust yet as it's all wrapped up still)

AEM Gauges (I changed them out to the Silver/White face):

Nice big box:

Turbo:

Everything unboxed (Exhaust is wrapped in the brown paper & bubble wrap):

Bulk of the kit:

UPDATE 03/23/2013
Day 2 into the project - LOTS of progress today! Turbo is up, most of the piping is complete, and oil pan tapped, and a few other things... I'm still hopeful to be finished sometime on Monday. Tomorrow is a lot of finishing touches and adjustments on the pipes. The only thing that I want left for Monday is electronics and gauges.

All taken apart:

Working the turbo in (tight fit):

Radiator support cut for FMIC:

Section cut out for IC piping:

The FMIC fits like a glove!:

Sub-pan tapped:

Turbo bolted up and lines attached (water not connected yet):

BOV:

More tomorrow!

UPDATE 03/24/2013
Phew! So the entire kit is finalized on the car now - turbo, pipes, exhaust, injectors, vacuum lines, all turbo lines, oil pan is back on, etc... Tomorrow I just have the AEM FIC and gauges, but I'll probably fire up the car before the gauges go in to check for leaks and what not. I probably could have finished it tonight, but I pulled over a 14hr day, so yeahhh.

Down pipe with factory O2 sensor, and Wideband O2 Sensor:

Breather filter installed (this is my own creation, not included with the kit)

Injectors:

Water lines connected:

Oil feed tapped:

All pipes finalized:

Vacuum lines tapped:

Tomorrow I start it up!

UPDATE 03/25/2013
It's all done! FIC was setup and TPS calibrated... She fired up on the first try and purrs like a kitten!

I had to order a new clutch as the factory one cannot hold at all and slips bad (to be expected). I went with the SPEC ST3+ that can hold up to 400tq. I will have a shop do that install.

UPDATE 04/13/2013
The new clutch is in... See page 5 for info and pictures.

You didn't mention any fuel upgrades.
What route are you going for that?
And how do you plan on controlling boost levels?

I'm not right now, but I will be in a few months... I'm looking at the SPEC ST2+. The turbo needs to break in anyhow, so this gives me a reason not to push it lol.

The kit came with 440cc injectors, and the stock fuel pump can handle those. The wastegate is setup for 7~8psi, but I may be looking into a boost controller to take it up to 10psi before I get it dyno tuned. If I run into fuel issues I'll just get a bigger fuel pump.

Sounds good. 440 is plenty of fuel.
I really recommend an electronic boost controller. Not only do they protect from boost spikes, but you can control the consistancy of the boost and manipulate the waste gate.

He hasn't installed it yet. In the post he said he is going to try to install it on 3/22.

Ah, I am not an english major, so I took "next weekend" on 3/15 to mean this past weekend. Ok, will just have to wait a few weeks to see how this one turns out.

I called at least 10 places today to try and find a shop that can do Dyno runs. 1/3 of the places I called said their dyno was broken or down for calibration - but they would do it, others said they are booked for months - some would/some wouldn't, and the rest flat out said not for my car. I didn't think that it was going to be this difficult to get in for 1 hour for a few quick runs. The one place that I called had the best price and said to try back in a few weeks, they would also tune my car with the AEM F/IC. So it doesn't look like I will be able to get in for a before dyno, but maybe in a few weeks I can at least show what my car is making with a good tune.

Thanks, I'll be starting on it tomorrow morning... I still have a few items left on my list to get tonight. I'm going to take my time installing everything so it could possibly take me till Monday to finish, but my goal is Sunday.

Thanks. Today was a bear... Full removal of the factory exhaust sucked! I had to take off the entire windshield wiper system and ledge to get easy access to the headers. Today was mainly dismantling everything, and some turbo assembly. I have a few pictures, but I'll probably do a mini update tomorrow when some stuff is actually on the car.
