240k and some change....

wife bought it at about 160 k... replaced some suspension things (from my abusive driving over speed bumps and such on deliveries), alternator, one control arm, ...now needs the other arm control, new struts, and new gasket as is leaking a bit of oil, a window control, .... other than that not too many problems. I am really curious about how long do these cars last until you get to repairs for over 1000 $ prices (like ac, transmission, etc...)

Good question! I still don't know the answer, with 318k on my Camry and 246k on the Avy!

2015 RAV4 Limited, AWD, tech pkg, Barcelona red metallic, 63k miles
1996 Avalon XLS, ABS brakes, super white II, acquired w/ 139k, now at 398k
1992 Camry LE, V6 (3VZ-FE), ABS brakes, dark emerald pearl, owned since new. Replaced HGs @332k, totaled at 384k miles

318 sounds awesome, I'd rather save the money than just roll in a new ride, as long as the avy drives ok, ac good, and my radio.....i'm all happy...

avy should be a bit better than camry right???... or just more luxury.... and pretty much the same.... I hope I can pass 300k with no major issues that I can not fix myself....

Just rolled it over to 200k. Runs like a champ to. Hoping to get 300K out of it and my wife loves it.

97 and its almost at 99k. Parents bought it used but never drove it much until i had to drive to school and work. Looks like i'll be needing a timing belt change? Wanting a new car cause the gas mileage is killing my pockets. Dont get my wrong, I love driving the Avalon but need a gas saver.=/

This car has great gas mileage. It's using regular gas and I am getting 26 average. I sold my 2008 Lexus IS350 (Premium gas killer) and bought this roomy 1998 Avalon XLS used from the original owner with only 93k miles. All services done by the dealer. They replaced the timing belt and water pump at 70k miles :-) It was a from a doctor and PhD old couple.

247.2k miles!

I don't drive much nowadays (5 miles each way to work) but the mileage accumulation has slowed down a bit. Had it since new. Will be 250k miles soon I am sure.. !!

Working on it last night to change out the direct clutch speed sensor.. now just 1 more code to go (O2 sensor) and it will be ready for inspection.. ha!

Plan to keep it forever.. !

Mine just crossed the 250k mark a coupla weeks ago. Except for an intermittent rattle in the dash somewhere, it's nearly flawless (just the typical assortment of parking lot disease).

I could save alot if my car can make it to 250k. It has 94k now and all major services (timing belt, water pump, spark plugs, drive belts, 3 coils, new stereo, new tires...etc.) done ahead of time (@ 70k miles).
I love this car, except front and rear bumpers are scratched up. I bought a bra for the front. The rear bumper has many scratches and dents. Not sure if I should repaint the rear bumper or find a painted bumper cover.

ahead of time??? I call that very preventive maintenance....nice of you to treat the avy......

mine is close ...if not overdue to some major service (timing belt) depends if the guy i bought from (some what of a friend;may have lied or not about a different engine with 20k less miles being put in........even though there is no sign of engine swapping...then again I'm a newly always testing home mechanic...
I wanted to post that, in a salvage yard scavenging this week I saw 3 avalons at the yard, 2 good looking color black and beige.....with respectively 288k, 268k, and 330 k .... and engines did not look to bad ..so yup I am starting to have a strange feeling that my 98 concorde will NOT outlast the avalon as i had thought many time because of the years/miles difference

I have the 02 sensor problem too (about 1 year now...) but no test here in FL so........also I do not want change the sensors to find out....ooops it is the catalytic converter instead.

isn't a good working 02 sensor will also do better gas mileage and performance improvement? I had the sensor replaced less than 1k mile ago. It was so darn dirty. The car idle much more stable.
