4th Generation change in fuel consumption

Hi all
I have camry 2001 4 cyl.. I had my timing belt changed since 3 weeks. I started to realize that there is increase in fuel consumption. the car sound was a little higher but power is OK, it accelerates normally, no check engine ...
last week it used 54 liter to move 334 km in the city .. (6.17 KM/L=14.5 mpg)

Do you think timing belt has any relation to this high fuel consumtion ? may be misaligned ??
thanks

That's a lot of gas used for that car. I have experience with that generation Camry's and actually own a previous generation '96 V6 Wagon. That one gets 21MPG at its worst. Average about 23MPG. Best I've ever gotten on it was 28MPG on a long trip.
I don't know if the timing could be wrong, because if it was it wouldn't run right and you'd notice it. Maybe check for things that are unplugged, vacuum leaks, maybe bad injectors, sticking brake calipers?
Also, what do you mean by "car sound was a little higher"? Do you mean it is revving higher when idling?

Possible that they could’ve gotten it a tooth off of timing? I know some motors will still run slightly out of timing just not very well.

Have you solved the problem since? What was the MPG before? What is the MPG now? What happened? I have similar problem, but mine is 2AZ-FE engine which got a timing chain.
