90 Supra Base Auto: Shudder-Vibration When Accelerating 10-15mph

Aloha Supra Friends, (B. Grieger, danno)

When accelerating from complete stop there is a shudder and vibration coming from underneath the floor.
This happens on slow/fast throttle between 10-15 mph only and does not happen from 20 mph or any speed over.
When traveling in bumper to bumper traffic this condition can be felt the most.
Mileage is 140K and the front u-joint was replaced 2K miles ago during some transmission service.
The tires are 6 years old and have front tires only inside tread wear of 2/32" more than the overall 5/32" of all tires that was corrected with a front wheel alignment 4 months ago.
All possible insights will be welcome and appreciated.

Thank-you again,

Welcome back!

At such a low speed only with no other symptoms I would think you can rule out wheel and tire related things. Places Iíd start looking would be engine and transmission mounts given you didnít mention any other symptoms. To help diagnose it, see if the shudder is related to something else happening - does it happen right when it shifts, or are there other sounds or feelings like poor acceleration, engine misses etc.

90 Supra Base Auto: Shudder-Vibration When Accelerating 10-15mph

Aloha bgrieger,

Thank-you for your reply and always nice to hear from you.
There are no poor acceleration or engine misses when this condition occurs during this 10-15mph acceleration range.
If I keep a steady 10 or 15 or 20 mph after the initial shudder/vibration on acceleration the condition is normal.
The exact area that is felt the most when this happens is under the front floor of the car.
It feels like there is something rotating/spinning under the floor during the shudder/vibration.
Hope this can narrow down the possible solutions.
I will have the engine / transmission mounts checked on my next mechanic visit.

Thanks again,
