How can you tell?

I was already trying to slice them apart a bit with a knife but was hoping a heat gun would help pry them apart easier.

There's flash on the housing, that's a good indication of ultrasonic welding.

Damn, oh well. It should still be somewhat easy to cut it all out of there I'm hoping. It didn't look like it was a tongue and groove going around it. I just need a strong sharp knife.

A scroll saw blade works really well or cut the back out and shove the projector inside so you leave the lens seal untouched.

Just an Update.

The fog lights that I received are definitely not Ultrasonic Welded. They were easily baked open like I thought they would be and confirmed should be by Matt from TRS.

I also just received everything from TRS. The Matchboxes, Relay, Shrouds, Bulbs & Ballasts.

Here are just a few pictures. I'll create my own thread once I finish everything so it can be consolidated.

Awesome! They sure looked welded in the pictures. I mistook the textured chrome plastic for bubbles akin to when they heat weld clear plastic lens to black plastic housing.

Yea it's going pretty easy. Hardest thing is finding free time from work and home.

Update:

Now i'm just waiting on a new ballast. The one I got was the wrong connector. They are in place but not wired up yet. Maybe next weekend.

This is badass.

Would you be able to use HIDs in the fogs without blinding ppl since the projector is installed?

Looking good. can't wait to see how they look lit up. Our Fusion at work has them and they look good at night. I like the cutoff and even light.

Thanks. Its actually not as bad as I thought it was going to be. I could easily do this again in a weekend. Alot of it was the unknown because I wasn't aware of anyone else who did it in a Toyota fog light before so there was some trial and error.....and waiting for things to be shipped.
