Lower Lumbar Repair “Click” Question

Went to the dealer to get the “click/movement” in the driver’s side lumbar support fixed. They didn’t believe me at first, but then they called their “field service rep”. He verified that it is a known problem. His recommended solution was to put the lumber support all the way up. He said it was the springs coming off/on tension or something of the sort. I followed his recommendation and it did help, but did not solve the pieces moving around completely.

I don’t believe I should have this problem in a brand new car. I also don’t believe the fix is an acceptable solution. The service rep told me I would probably have to go through Toyota to get the entire seat replaced as the next step if I wanted.

Has anyone here ever pursued a repair through Toyota corporate? If so, how and what was your result? Also, does this sound like something that would need to be escalated to that level or do you think the dealer should be able to make that call? The vehicle is less than a year old and still under warranty. I also have the Toyota extended warranty.

IMO, you have a warranty and something is broken; they fix it, one way or the other.
