Transponder Key for 2019 Highlander L E Plus.

When I bought my 2012 Highlander, the rubber part of the transponder key was broke, and I didn't realize it till I got home. When I returned to the dealer for service, I made mention that the key was broke and wouldn't stay on my key ring. Of course I was told that wasn't the case when I bought the car, and if I wanted another key, it would be an expensive venture for a duplicate because of the transponder. Not being one to argue, I asked if they could just change the settings on the car to accept a regular keys, which they did. Now, fast forward to 2019 and I wonder if anyone else has asked if this could be done to their Highlander. I have great insurance, so if by chance the car is stolen, I would be covered anyway. I owned my 2012 till 2019 and not once did I have a problem. A 3.00 key is soooo much cheaper then what they want for the transponder keys, not to mention much easier to access anywhere keys are made.

I'm guessing the LE Plus doesn't have a push button start? Unless you have a need to make some additional keys, I'd wait until I had to replace one before considering something like that. I don't see any benefit, given that it's a hypothetical situation.
