Gas Mileage ?? (Real Life) ??

Our 08 Highlander Limited got totaled and got a new AWD Limited. Nice new Highlander but I think the 08 was built better - 18 has more bells and whistles - Nice looking ride.

Only have 600 miles - two tips at 100 miles Highway each way - the Highway MPG is looking good

Here is my question.

For Both FWD and AWD

after your Highlander was broken in. What MPG are you really getting

City / Highway

Looking for Both FWD and AWD owners.

Thanks for taking the time to post

BTW - We both are very easy drivers - those fast years are well behind us --- Unless I am in my Mini Cooper...LOL

I have a 2016 FWD, V6. Suburban driving, I get about 23 mpg. On the highway, averaging about 70, I get 25-26 mpg. The newer models should do a bit better than that.

I admit that I've got a lead foot when pulling away from a full stop. My driving is a mix of short trips most days with some longer trips in rural areas (50-55 MPH roads) once in a while. With that, I usually get the "city" EPA mileage rating on my vehicles.

Actual data collected over the years using a phone app that tracks odometer mileage and gallons pumped in (not any built-in trip information screens in the car)... I show an average of 19.3 MPG on my 2016 HL AWD Limited. EPA rating is 18/24.

For what it's worth, I was averaging 17.5 MPG with a 2013 HL AWD Limited, which was EPA rated at 17/22. So I have seen a small improvement with the 3rd gen as the marketing materials would have you expect.

Bought a 2016 Limited in Feb 2016. To date it has 34954 miles on it, burned 1,784.193 gal of 90/10 ethanol for 19.59 MPG. Probably about 70% City, 30% Highway. Under 70 mph no a/c on and no headwind, it can do 25-26 mpg with 2 people.

2018 SE. My wife gets about 16mpg around town and 30mpg on trips to Alabama. I got 32 on the same trip : ) to Alabama. She's a little tougher on the throttle pedal.

Just my 0.02 worth,

2018 XLE AWD, ~11,000 miles. Seeing 21-22 mpg around town, 25-27 on the highway, usually with two people aboard and minimal cargo. Overall average for 11k miles is 23.5mpg using mostly Shell regular grade with 10% ethanol. Of course, YMMV!!

That must have been a fast U turn for the HL to be totaled. Where on the HL was the damage?

Not all that fast - just placement of impact - got back edge of drivers door and full passenger door / B & C pillers impacted along with left rear suspension. The Wife took such perfect car of this 08, it looked new / even the adjuster commented "I cant find a ding or scratch not related to the accident" With it all totaled up - came to 80% of Value - Totaled. All in All Gecio took good care and gave good value.

2008/ 97K miles and looked new
