Sport mode won't really decrease your mpg if you don't abuse it. I feel like in sport mode the Corolla is a bit smoother and reaches speed faster so once I reach 40-45 mph I just hit the cruise on and it'll still be economical and at least you'll be more confident at that next yellow light that crosses your path because all you'll have to do is just cancel the cruise and fly up those rpms =] and I "shift" from the gear box not the ridiculous paddle shifters lol it's a more manual feeling when you control of from the shift knob

From what I have experienced in the short period of time owning the car, sport mode changes the behaviour of the CVT. You can actually feel the shift shock.... Also in sport mode depending on how mash the accelerator, I noticed that is shifts at redline! That was pretty cool!!!!

Yeah. When sport mode is engaged the steering is tighter and the braking is more sensitive. When manual mode is engaged separately I don't feel any difference. And this is coming from the guy who lowered his corolla 2.4" all around...I went a little nuts on the way to work today with sport mode and manual mode. Lets just say the car moves with precision

I was hoping you'd try it out lol it like puts more pressure on the accelerator sometimes too so it will be more responsive and it flies up rpms smoother like you said with precision

I've been going there since before it was cool! lol My grandparents lived at the town at the end of the Dragon and my grandad said he helped build the road and they didnt know what the hell they were doing.

318 curves in 11 miles.

Semi's are now BANNED:

I have 600 miles on my car. How long should I wait before I start introducing higher rpms to the engine? I'm in no rush, just curious.

Ok so back to the discussion on the paddle shifters, what speed is the best time to shift for each gear?

Shift at 6,000 rpm. Anything past that just slows you down.

USA

6000 RPM seems like a nice place that's where I've been shifting. The only thing is I still think I'm driving my old 5-speed and let off the gas when I shift. It's weird shifting with no clutch!!!!
