CVT Issues: More with the 'Sport mode' feature?

I'm looking to buy a 2017 Corolla I'm renting (will have inspected tomorrow). I thought I was getting an LE but it's an SE.

Does the Sport feature ( and paddles )cause more issues (including the one that Toyota ahs a suspended campaign for)?

Or is all of that just more electronic inputs to the same mechanism?

No issues to worry about and I would much rather have the nicer SE then a plain LE.

The paddles are largely pointless.
You can't force an early upshift, and for acceleration, the TCU's programming holds the engine at the proper point in the power curve.
I only use them when descending a hill with stopped traffic at the bottom to take some of the load off of the brakes.
It is the same transmission as the LE, so there's no difference in "issues" or reliability.
