Search feature not good

Who had the bright idea of messing around with the search feature?

It's like the cars, sometimes you learn to not fix what is working fine.

Looks the same to me now as it did a decade ago.

you can always use google. Just add this to the search term you want:

site:toyotanation.com

Frankly, this is what I've found most effective.

search is terrible?

I'm finding I have to post questions that have prob been answered a million times, simply because the site search functionality is useless.
Any search returns either
no results
or
please wait 20 seconds.

or

connection to sphinx03:3312 failed (errno=0, msg=php_network_getaddresses: getaddrinfo failed: Name or service not known)

That error message and associated problem is known by the IT people and they're working on it. All members may encounter other issues as well as storage, etc., is being moved to the cloud. As for the search feature, most online forums use one flavor of vBulletin software or another, and the limited capacity of the search feature is widespread among internet forums. As mentioned in the other thread in this site issue forum points out, you will find your best success Googling "toyotanation.com" and adding pertinent other words/terms in the search string to return results.

EDIT: I went ahead and merged your two other threads with this preexisting thread addressing the search feature.

This forum is a joke. Does anyone know of a better toyota forum?
These forums are not a joke and have been very helpful to people like me and a lot of other folks too.

You got a post history of 27 postings in ten years, and almost all of them asking about your problems. I don't see any giving back to the forums. Taking and not giving back. These forums are free to people like you, but people like me paid to be premium members to give back to the forums. Maybe you should give back instead of bitching about the forums, or else hit the road. That's my take on it FWIW.

The forum is helpful, but the same questions probably get asked dozens of times because the search function is so bad. This is really a v bulletin problem. Perhaps there is no better forum software. Ill use google from now on, but most people won't know how to do that.

Opinions vary, just like give and take participation in the forums, and some members here are worth less than others.

Just gave this a test and didn't get that connection error anymore.
Are you still encountering that error?
