Which forum view are you using? At least in Classic view which I use, there is a double arrow that allows you to expand or contract that side bar.

I'm using classic view but I don't see the arrows. When I use safari I can hide the sidebar because I have the arrows.

Unfortunately, I don't use Safari as it's too kludgy on my Mac. Stand by.

Okay, I went ahead and turned off the sidebar in your profile so you should not see it anymore.

For those members reading this thread who want to shut the sidebar off on their own, please click on the Control Panel link located at the top of any forum page. On the next screen that opens look to the left side and at the top of the left pane under Your Profile, click on Edit Your Details, and then from the next screen scroll down to Additional Information and you will find the item Show Sidebar on Forums, where you can enable/disable the feature.
